He's an American black "comedian". He was given the job of introducing the Red Hot Chilli Peppers band live at Wembley at the Saving Earth concert saturday afternoon.

He came on, made a joke about Paris Hilton that we (British) didn't understand - then when nobody laughed, he then called the 70,000 crowd and millions worldwide on LIVE TV "a bunch of motherfu**ers"

Is this normal for a foul mouthed "comic" to say that at 5:15pm on live TV in the states?

I was watching and he's a prat - the BBC cut away but only after the foul language.

A great advertisement for the USA - well done, you've ballsed it again by sending that pillock over here

Here's his reaction afterwards - typical Yank - totally unrepentant, totally unaware he was representing the USA, totally unaware of the damage he's done to the already destroyed image of the USA.

Comedian CHRIS ROCK has brushed aside the controversy surrounding his foul-mouthed appearance at Live Earth London on Saturday (07Jul07). BBC television bosses took the U.S. star off the air just 10 seconds after he stepped onstage at Wembley Stadium to introduce the Red Hot Chili Peppers, because he swore at the crowd. Local TV host Jonathan Ross had to apologise to viewers for Rock's bad language. But an unrepentant Rock says, "I like to say those things. It's not good weed if you don't choke."

Personally, I've never heard of him, and if that what he does then he can stay in the USA where his foul language is obviously acceptable at 5:15pm when children are watching

edit - I'd better ref this or I'll be blamed for making it up

I only know Chris Rock for his Niggers routine - http://film.guardian.co.uk/interview/interviewpages/0,,499318,00.html - which is very good.

Chris Rock - wasn't as bad as Grandma Madonna! - who wants an old hag shouting mutherfuckers at you? How embarrassing - but then it was the LiveEarth event so we knew a few idiots were going to have some crap coming out of their mouths.

Spinal Tap were my favourites - particluarly the new stuff!

The point is that Madonna was on late, the ****** was on at 5:15pm - anyway they're both Yanks so I s'pose foul language is expected on live TV.

Odd that Americans tolerate such language on their TV, yet get all upset if someone is seen smoking - question of priorities I s'pose.

Cant swear on tv here. Lots of beeps cover it up

after an incident at the superbowl here a few years ago there is now a delay on live feeds so that people can monitor the action going on. Kinda defeats the purpose of being live

Or someone accidentaly making a boob on primetime:rolleyes:
That exact incident!!!

I remember the Janet Jackson incident, we (in the UK) couldn't see what the fuss was about, the Yanks on the forum made a huge fuss - as did most of the hypocritical USA (the worlds biggest porn producer)

Swearing before 9pm on TV isn't tollerated and should be respected by visitors to the UK who appear live on TV.

Anyone heard of Phil Collins?

...and by the way, this part is hilarious :D

"Bad language by stars attracted 123 complaints - but more than three times that amount were unhappy about rock group Metallica's set being cut short."

Anyone heard of Phil Collins?
Is that meant to be a dig at my thread title, Daniella?

I have genuinely never heard of Chris Rock - whereas Phil Collins is a genuine world superstar in his own right and also with the group Genesis.

Phil Collins wrote one of my all time favorite songs. I'm just wondering why he isn't receiving spleen for his 'potty mouth' ;)

Phil Collins wrote one of my all time favorite songs.

You have to be taking the piss - how old are you? Which song?

Yeah, Chris Rock is well known in North America. He got his start in the show "Saturday Night Live" and then went off on his own which worked for a while. He still does lots of tv and movies, but nothing blockbuster that I can think of.

Absolutely am not, I've always wanted to be able to write a song as good as 'Against all odds'. It's one of the best ballads I've ever heard.

My age? None of your business :p

I'll have to YouTube that as I can't recall it offhand. But then I have heard enough Phil Collins - not to bother.

I am starting to get a picture of you now! I feel cruel. Sorry mate!

Hell, I didn't realise you were ill, I'll take it easier on you in future:p

Dang, you people are making me worried, I thought everybody loved that song
