    Excel Query from Access Location

Ok... Found it. Needed to open up the query in Excel with the Query Editor There is a Data Source settings button there that allowed me to edit the path to the query. Knew if I dug around enough I'd find something :) Thx

    Excel Query from Access Location

I've got a spreadsheet that I put together for the company's metrics. As it sits it works great. I'm pulling in a query from an Access DB for some of the data. I realized yesterday that I cannot open/run the query from another computer. The query is looking to...

Suggestions for making a query updatable

ridders; I have had that on my screen all day to reference. It's actually bookmarked for me :) Mark; Just an FYI - no forms created yet. I was building the query needed for the form before actually designing the form. Some of the formatting I am doing [ccc-aaa] was to facilitate other...

Suggestions for making a query updatable

Pat Thanks for the reply. I've never had any luck posting a copy of a DB; file sizes have always been too large. Also; because several of my tables are linked it doesn't operate well anywhere else. I am going to have to sit down and re-think how I'm storing my data and also try to understand...

Suggestions for making a query updatable

I'm working on pulling a bunch of data together for a form but need to be able to edit the data. I realize my query is using some joins that make the query itself read only but I've been going back and forth trying to come up with another idea on how to write everything so that it would be...

    IF Statement based on tables

Pbaldy Please clarify for me - Can I use a table value in an IF statement inside of a Macro? When you put "You can't edit a table like that" is throwing me for a loop. I'm not trying to edit anything in that table - I just want to check the value of a field. I actually stopped back to this...

    Windows 7 Scheduled Tasks

Running the task manually from the scheduler: If I have 'run only when logged in' selected the task runs fine if I have 'run whether user is logged in or not' the task does not run at all.

    IF Statement based on tables

Just an update: I tried do the IF statement based on data from a form. I created a new form, with just this one piece of data from the table on it. My IF statement is now: [Forms]![ImportLogDateTodayRun].[TodayRun]=Date() But I get a different error: "The object you referenced in the...

    Windows 7 Scheduled Tasks

I thought about that - but i wanted to be sure it continued to run if say the computer gets reset over a long weekend. I'm running another test tonight - if that doesn't work I may resort to this method. And on the odd times I get logged out than I'll just have to do some manual updating/etc.

    IF Statement based on tables

I can't seem to get my IF statement in a macro to work. It keeps coming up with an error "Cannot Fine Name tblImportLogDate you entered in expression" Is there any reason this would not work? [tblImportLogDate].[TodayRun]=Date() or [table]![tblImportLogDate].[TodayRun]=Date() (this gives the...

    Windows 7 Scheduled Tasks

I've set up a scheduled task to run an EXE every morning at 9am but it does not seem to want to work. I set up the task using the computer's ADMIN account - not my personal log in because I want this to run every day, regardless of if I am at work or not. Under Security Options for the task...

    Joins between 'almost' identical fields

CJ / George - Thank You! I see where my mistake was. This helps a lot! This business is close to 40yrs old; the databases were started back around 2000 and created around existing requirements at the time. As the company grew and modified the way it ran; instead of creating a better database...
