    The problem could be in "Windows " itself with the security settings I have had a similar problem before Go to : Control Panel /Action center /Change user Accounts Control settings and pull the slider down to the the bottom "Never Notify" Hope that helps Captn K

    Ok no responses,but after a lot of research finally located the problem with 2010. The solution was: Go to Excel options/Advanced. Scan down to "General" Untick "Ask to update Automatic Links" Save For whatever reason it wasnt necessary for that to be "Unticked" in the 2007 version.
