Found it!!! At least for my situation. Not sure if this applies to '97 (I'm using 2003), but if you have your query option set to use ANSI '92 SQL, then you have to have the combo box's Row Source set to a Distinct query. I was experiencing the exact same problem as mentioned in the first...
