    Shortcut date is wrong-twilight zone

I tried the ? Date () suggested by GasMan and got the correct date 12/19/18. When I use it in Excel, it gives me the right date. And when I use the shortcut in a different Access db on the same computer, it also acts correctly. Seems to be something specific to this one db. Well, you...

    Shortcut date is wrong-twilight zone

OK, thanks all. I'm sorry I didn't type in the shortcut keys correctly, but I've been using both of them for years with no issues. The problem is, in this one db only, when I try to use the shortcut key to enter today's date, the year it puts in is not right. example: 12/19/2020 instead of...

    Shortcut date is wrong-twilight zone

Shortcut key is the Control key with the colon-semi colon key. I entered it in wrong in the first post. It's supposed to put today's date in the field.

    Shortcut date is wrong-twilight zone

OK, this isn't world shattering, but it's weird as anything. I have a database to track keys issued. Very simple. One form has a field for Date Issued. I can key in the date with no problem. But, if I use the shortcut (Ctrl/Shift/:) it puts the date in but has 2020 as the year. Anybody know...

    Return 2 most recent records

Reading through all 3 responses led me to fixing some of the design errors I committed when creating this db and its innards. With your input, I believe I can move forward from here, now. Thanks so much, I've been at a dead stop for several days on this thing and am glad to be moving forward...

    Return 2 most recent records

I've seen some threads on this, but I can't make the answers work for me. I have a db where I track PMs; completion date per equipment, with calculated due dates based on established frequency compared to last completed date. No problem. Now, my overlords have decided that we need to keep...

Comparing to date in previous record

Oh wow, thanks. I didn't even think of DMax. Thanks so much, I'll check out both links and see what I can do with them. Again, thanks for the quick response.

Comparing to date in previous record

I've been capturing data on PMs, that are due at specific frequencies. This data includes the date performed. Now I've been asked to provided data on how well we've held to the schedule, so I need to compare the date completed to the previous date completed. Simplified, I have records like...

Outputting Reports Slows System to Crawl

Thanks. I did the Message thing and you're right--the actual formatting is the bug-a-bear. Also found out that we're having some server issues, so that's probably adding to the problem and slowing things down. Guess as long as they want the report available, I'll just have to learn a little...

Outputting Reports Slows System to Crawl

Hi there. I have an inventory db that was built using A2007 but now I'm using A2013. I've built a macro to output a report to a shared drive and it used to work fine. Suddenly, it starts fine and outputs the report, but then it starts calculating something, goes dormant for 2 to 3 minutes, and...

File Name Changes When Compact on Closing.

I've checked and all the permissions look right. I'm just going to clear the C&R on Close for the time being, and will continue the search when I have a bit more time. Thanks, ALL, for the suggestions and help. BeckieO

File Name Changes When Compact on Closing.

Yes I do, and really space isn't an issue, so thanks, I'll just remove that and not have to worry about it. Thanks, I was just wondering if this was something that happened to others, or if I should be considered "SPECIAL". Thanks for all the help.

File Name Changes When Compact on Closing.

Yes, I agree it's not a good plan. But in this case, it's actually out there on the shared drive so that a stand-alone Excel spreadsheet can query the inventory it contains. No one but me ever uses it directly, and the shared drive is backed-up daily so we limit our loss risk.

File Name Changes When Compact on Closing.

Private, on my desktop, (faster to work on than using our intranet), then I copy to a shared drive so others can access it. No password required. Thanks for helping.

File Name Changes When Compact on Closing.

I have an .accdb, that I've ued successfully for a long time. It was written in AC2007 and I'm currently using AC2013. I have it set to compact on close. Lately, when I close, I sometimes get an error message about "Can't delete old db after compacting because of Read Only. Remove Read...
