    Comparing values in a query

P.S. don't worry I don't have any users messing about in my tables or queries-it took me long enough to figure out how to build them-don't want anyone knocking over my pretty towers for the fun of it!

    Comparing values in a query

Thank you! In this case, I don't think it is worth the cost to implement it correctly-the information is right there in the report already-two numbers right next to each other so If they can't compare them and see which is bigger themselves I'm pretty sure nothing is going to help them-I was...

    Comparing values in a query

Hi... I will try to keep this succinct. I have a query that totals a column in a sub-form. The query also gets a sum from the main form for the same record. Is it possible to have a message/colour change/warning if the total of the column in the sub-form exceeds the other number in the query...

Enter Parameter Value message - after sorting

I experimented a little with that...but either I'm confused (very likely) or I haven't been very clear about what I'm trying to do (also likely). I currently have a form and subform controlled by two tables. The database is designed to track information about contracts-including payments in...

Enter Parameter Value message - after sorting

No...actually I'm more confused now. I think i should do some more reading/searching. Thanks for responding, however.

Enter Parameter Value message - after sorting

Neil, I was just searching for information on how to make my parameter prompts more friendly and I ran across this post. Would it be possible for you to explain how I would create a form to enter information into a parameter prompt? At the moment I have several queries with strange looking...

Thanks Statsman! I didn't ask the question, but the answer worked. I just spent an hour trying to get this to work with all sorts of expressions!

    Opinions on security

That sounds like a reasonable alternative to me. I'm sort of of the mind that if anyone actually wanted to destry/modify the data then anything I could set up wouldn't stop them- esp. since the aforementioned departments do not back up their files.

    Opinions on security

Thank you. Its not the sort of think I felt I could advise on without having tried. I don't think the data is really that sensitive-I think the main concern was that they didn't want people from one department messing around with the information from another department accidentally. I have...

    Opinions on security

I have very painstakingly worked out a new database and I'm about to present it to the departments who will be using it. At various times words like 'password' and 'locked' have been thrown out but as of now I have not implemented any security measures. I started reading up on the topic this...

Total in subform on main form

thanks for getting back to me, I tried it and haven't had any luck. I get an error message saying that the on current expression I have entered doesn't work and I can't see the field in the form anyway. I have someone looking at it though, maybe they can sort it out. Thanks again...

Total in subform on main form

Stacy, Unfortunately, I cannot help with your problem...but I think you can help with mine. I'm trying to figure out how to create a total in my subform. I'm very new to access so any details or help you could give would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Do I need a query or not?

Actually, I think its our fire wall as the size of the file is fine.
