Probably A stupid question on Merging tables

Okay I suppose that makes sense. However the only past experience I've had was combining tables that shared common data. What do you recommend? Sorry for the beginner level questions :) I tried to create a query which resulted in a table being made but I suppose I kept messing up somewhere along...

Probably A stupid question on Merging tables

Sorry for the stupid question... I am trying to combined 6 tables I suppose with identical format. Lets say Tbl1,Tbl2,..Tbl6 All have (for examples sake) Columns with the names, "[Column Name], [Data Type], [Length], [Basic Name]". I am trying to create a query which makes a table with all...

    Stupid Question

Hmm, since I created these graphs (pivot graphs) as a form, is there anyway I can prevent user's changes from being a permanent change on the original form design. Like have a master version it will always revert to?

    Stupid Question

Alright, maybe I'll try to script something up to automate the download portion in python or something. I think I am getting a bit ahead of myself. There is still much work to be done on access ^.^

    Stupid Question

Alas, I am stuck again >.< I wanted to use something like ODBC to automate my database importing new data daily... But the source of the data comes from a customized URL which downloads a csv file. I dont believe ODBC will work here for that. Any clues on a work around which will still allow...

    Stupid Question

Just thought I would give an update. Still working on the tool. Need to segment the table up a bit to decrease the delay. I'll post an update when something arises :)

    Stupid Question

O.O... You are a saint and a scholar good sir. *Went and tried it only to realize that the one column that would have helped differentiate the rest when combined with the others to form the composite key has blank values -_- hah back to the drawing board I suppose.

    Stupid Question

Ah okay then I suppose Ill figure out a new way to build the database then. Need to figure out what variable is bet to set as the primary key. If only I could set 2 columns as 1 primary key ^.^ Ya no kidding, you should have seen what it was going to be. A few guys here wanted hourly totals...

    Stupid Question

Hey just a quick question again. It is probably due to having about 1.5mil rows so far but there is a noticeable delay when I select parameters on the form whereas there was 0 delay previously having around 300k rows. Could this be due to the removal of the Primary Key?

    Stupid Question

Ok, so when I was trying to import another table into my existing one it wasn't organizing them correctly because of the primary key. I think I found a work around for this maybe you can let me know what you think of it. I removed the Primary Index # all together and have it indexed based on...

    Stupid Question

Hah sorry about that :p. I thought you said not to index the date field though? oops I see now you said dont make date the PK. :)

    Stupid Question

Alright Ill try that thanks :)

    Stupid Question

Found the answer to that question quickly hah. Tried it and I immediately got a big NOPE from excel ^.^ ****************** edit ************* Just opened the table it created, and all seems well to be honest. Maybe I can have the date as an index?

    Stupid Question

Quick question, is it bad practice to have my primary key be something like "date"? I am thinking on doing this because I feel like it would make things simple for updating table which will *in theory* happen everyday automatically.

    Stupid Question

Actually dont sweat it. I think I can manage it. If I cant after a few hours I'll post again but I should be able to figure it out.
