Title and images missing in Buttons

Perfect Colin: Thank you

On this topic:
I happened to see an article by Daniel Pineault today about the disappearance of Form Button labels.
I couldn't tell if he cited the images, but they're included in the disappearances.
I found it strange that it was only happening to me.

Until a few days ago, yours was the only report about this issue. As stated previously, I originally thought the issue wasn't a bug and was just due to you using incorrect settings.
However, in the past 2-3 days there have been multiple reports of this issue and it is clear that the update to Current Channel Preview version 2506 triggered the problem. The Access team are aware of the issue and have confirmed it will be fixed before version 2506 goes to the Current Channel in the next 10 days or so.

In the meantime, it is easy to fix the issue by changing the Picture Caption Arrangement property setting as I described above.

It is worth reiterating that insider channels should never be used for production databases as they will contain bugs.
In theory, these are all identified and fixed before reaching Current Channel but that isn't always the case.
For that reason, many experienced Access developers recommend that all clients are on the Semi-Annual channel

For info, I have now published my own article on this bug including the current status and workarounds until it is fixed:

I hope its OK that I used images from your supplied example database to explain the problem
Thanks for reporting the issue. It was another 10 days before any other reports were uploaded to forums

Hi Colin:
Your input is always important.
It helps a lot.
Thank you

I want to amplify Colin's message.

Organizations and individuals should not run Production database applications on insider channels. Microsoft does not hide the fact that those channels can, and very often will, contain bugs.

As a rule of thumb, all of your production database applications should be on the slowest release channel you feel comfortable with.

Developers, on the other hand, might wish to have available (perhaps on a VM) an installation on an insider channel on which they can continually evaluate their applications on the insider channel to help expose those bugs before they reach their clients.

@JTrilloJ
The bug has been fixed in Current Channel Preview version 2506 build 18925.20092 released on 23 June.
Button captions will once again appear as normal

Unfortunately, it seems that some images that were lost in files opened in earlier CCP 2506 builds may need to be reset manually.
That is unless already done as part of Workaround #1 that I suggested in my article: https://www.isladogs.co.uk/button-caption-image-bug

Thanks, Colin:
Just yesterday I updated to 2506-20092.
I opened some databases and it seems to have fixed the problem.
I hope it doesn't affect any other databases.
What I don't quite understand is that two different numbers are appearing, according to the attached image.
When I click the button, the pop-up window shows -20076.
Do you know why this happens?

The image in your screenshot refers to the MSO.dll file and this is updated less often than the Office apps in most Access channels
The numbers often tally on the first build released under a particular YYMM version (such as 2505) but then usually differ until the next month

IGNORE the mso.dll version number. Use the version/build info to the right of the About Access button
Or better still use my free version checker add-in which has more detail and is always correct.

Thanks again, Colin.
I'll definitely be using your app.
Best regards.

The Access team have today confirmed that the next update to the Current Channel (v2506 build 18925.20136) will contain a fix for the disappearing captions bug. It should be released sometime this week - possibly tomorrow (Wed 2 July)
