TL;DR: Anyone have any experience with product key vendors? I'd like to purchase a key for Visio Pro 2013 but not sure who's reputable or not...

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT LOOKING FOR FREE/CRACKED/KEY-GEN/ANYTHING STOLEN - LOOKING ONLY TO BUY THE SOFTWARE LEGITIMATELY AND LEGALLY (at the best price possible ;) )

I installed Visio Pro 2013 and am looking for a product key to activate it. I can find some sites selling keys for <$10, but that gets my 'too good to be true' suspicion going - plus they want a whole bunch of my personal information just to give it a try.

Elsewhere I can find keys being sold for $50-100 (and some places offering to sell the software for hundreds of dollars!). These sellers seem more trustworthy, but I've also read about people buying keys that don't work and at that price I am not keen on taking a chance.

Anyone have experience with vendors for product keys and willing to recommend a good one you'd trust?

Please consider; end of life for MS Vision 2013 was April 2023!
This means no updates, security patches or technical support!

If you upgrade to 2016 and you wish to be legitimate you can purchase an official digital key for £8.99 (Originally £199.00) online.
Keys are genuine, licenced cd keys from authorised manufacturers with each one being unique and unused.

PM me and i will point you in the right direction (Note: info provided for legitimate keys ONLY) to satisfy the moderators.

Good point. However, Office 2016 and 2019 both reached end of life support on 14 Oct 2025. Although Visio isn't part of the MS Office suite, it has the same dates for end of life support. The only retail versions still in support are 2021 and 2024.

Visio is a good application and use it; overpriced though like many MS applications.

Can obtain legit licenses for the blow:

MS Visio 2021 Pro £9.99
MS Visio 2024 Pro £19.99

Keys are genuine, licenced cd keys from authorised manufacturers with each one being unique and unused.

Still cost too much lol

That is certainly my hope. ;)

Unfortunately, I have Office 2016 and cannot also install Visio 2016 without uninstalling Office - which I can't do because I bought my PC used with the software already on it and wouldn't be able to reactivate Office (I think). So I went to 2013 and it really seems no different from 2016... can't imagine I'd find something I'd want to do in '16 that isn't in '13.

If those can be installed without an MS account, I can give them a go...

> I have Office 2016 and cannot also install Visio 2016 without uninstalling Office

The typical workaround is to install a VM on your computer, and run the other software in it. Hyper-V comes with Windows, but you have to install it using Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off > Hyper-V.

I have Microsoft 365 (Office 365) with one account and Visio 2024 with completely different account on the same PC.
Even if Visio is a part of office bundle, they can be set to different accounts.
Or at least, I've done something wrong and have ended up to this situation.

Perhaps I’m missing something here. I see no reason why you can’t install any version of Visio (including 2016) whilst you have Office 2016 installed. No need to remove /reinstall Office

There are restrictions in what you can also install along with Office 2016. You can’t install 2016 Runtime nor can you install 64-bit 2016 if you have 32-bit (or vice versa). However, adding Visio isn’t one such restriction AFAIAA

Install issues likely MSI or C2R installation -You canot install MSI on an Office that is Click to Run and the other way round.
It's an easy fix by converting your office license but as you wish to go legit your stuck!

Also, as Colin rightly points out the bitness (x32 or x64) of both needs to match.

There are alternatives such as Lucid chart and Smart Draw just to name a few. (Not promoting any of them)
Maybe someone here can suggest other alternatives as a consideration.

It's as if your almost being punished for trying to do the legitimate way lol

Apparently 2019 cannot be installed with Office 2016 either, so I guess it's back to 2013 and looking for a reputable key.

The message shown in post #11 clearly states that the issue is mixed installation types (MSI & C2R) as explained by @Jason Lee Hayes in #10.
All versions prior to 2016 were MSI. Everything after 2016'is C2R. However Office 2016 existed in both versions and you must have an early MSI release.

For more info, see my article

A better solution might be to purchase a newer copy of both Office and Visio which will both be C2R
