Re: How to create a separate local database for temporary tables

Hi moke. Thanks for posting your demo. Ever since the website owner moved the files to a Linux server, the page to download the tempdb demo has been broken, and I don't know how to fix it (since I...

Re: Custom Project Number with Fiscal Year

Okay, for federal fiscal year, I do the same thing and add 3 months to the date. But again, it's easier to get the next number in sequence if the field is a number instead of text. In Access, it's so...

Re: Autopopulate empty fields with values from another field.

Just be aware though, if your query is processing a lot of records, updating those records that don't need to be updated (because they have the same values anyway) could slow down your query. Good...

Re: Custom Project Number with Fiscal Year

PS. Looks like you're storing this calculated project number. If so, my advice is don't. You should store each component of the project number in separate fields to make your life easier managing it.

Re: Autopopulate empty fields with values from another field.

Hi. Without seeing your SQL statement, my guess is Access updated all the rows. It may appear only the null records were updated because the other records were updated with the same values.

Re: Copy text in subform

Hi. I didn't test this but try using:

Forms!Patient_Information.[pt data Subform].Form!Printed_By = Forms!Patient_Information.STFF_ID2

Hope it helps...

Re: Copy text in subform

Can you strip it down to only the bare essentials? For example, just include the form and subform plus the tables they need. Don't need everything else.

Can help you better if we can see it. Are you able to post a copy of your db?

Re: Custom Right Click Menu

Hi. I think you basically just added the Foreign Key I was referring to earlier.

Re: Copy text in subform

Not sure about that error message, but the syntax is typically something like:

Forms!MainFormName.SubformContainerName.Form!ControlName

Hi. If you're using a Navigation Form, check out the BrowseTo method.

Re: Custom Right Click Menu

Well, you know what? If Titles is a lookup table, then the ContactTitle field in the Contacts table should have been a Foreign Key to the Titles table. If so, you would have been storing the ID field...

Re: Custom Right Click Menu

Hi. I don't quite understand. The db you posted only has one form in it, and it is bound to a table. If I make any selection in the combobox, I will be updating that record. Also, there are no code...

Hi. This forum has a code repository where you might find a demo of what you are trying to do. Try searching for "audit trail." Good luck!

If you go to Design View of the Form and select the button, you can check what it says in the Click Event property. What do you see?

Re: Access error -query is corrupt

That would depend on your Access version. Some you can download, others you have to use the manual update feature. But I think, to your point, they are all available as an auto-update feature, if...

Re: Custom Right Click Menu

To sort a dropdown, you would do it in the Row Source property. For instance:

SELECT ID, Field1, Field2 FROM Table ORDER BY Field2

Re: Need help with bitmasking permissions

Hi. If you need to manage more than 32 controls, you may have to switch to 64-bit Access and use Large Number data type.

Re: Retrieve auto-generated number to linked table

Hi. I think this was already asked before, but I'm not sure if you've answered. Why can't you just import the Excel data directly to Table2 as well? Why do you need to store Table1's ID in Table2?
