Re: An update query takes very long time

Unless you have a very large number of records, this should be fast
I doubt it will be quicker using code.
Try this slightly modified version of your query where bangs replaced with dots. Also...

Re: strSQL in DLookup

Pat replied before I read this - I agree with everything she wrote

I think you are labouring under a misapprehension about bound forms.
You are CERTAINLY labouring by creating masses of extra...

Re: Help normalize my Union Query

OK here you are:

SELECT Q_EVENTS.Category, Count(Q_EVENTS.Category) AS Events, Q_EVENTS.Year, Q_EVENTS.Quarter
FROM Q_EVENTS
GROUP BY Q_EVENTS.Category, Q_EVENTS.Year, Q_EVENTS.Quarter;

OR...

Re: strSQL in DLookup

I am finding it very difficult to think of examples where forms are limited or made inflexible as a result of being bound. Although many developers use one table per form, I don't subscribe to that...

Re: Microsoft User Voice - I've suggested increasing Max File Size from 2GB

Actually Pat I have a 1.6GB Access BE file where almost the entire file size is due to a UK postcodes table containing 2.6 million records and around 50 fields.
There are no OLE fields or...

Re: Microsoft User Voice - I've suggested increasing Max File Size from 2GB

I've added a supportive comment but my experience of the user voice platform hasn't been positive. For example, requests to handle JSON files in Access got 650+ votes before MS killed it with 'no...

Re: Help normalize my Union Query

I also had a look at this and am of the same opinion as plog.
You want quarterly values for each category for a specified year.

There is no reason to do this using a union query let alone one as...

Re: BackEnd getting corrupted since (I think) Win 10 updates

I would be very surprised if this is due to a Win10 update (though Win v1803 did break some Access geolocation code of mine)

Whenever I see that, I recommend that the database should be...

Re: "Exporting" ODBC table to another database

From your temp database, import the table you want.
If it's a linked table in the source database, it will still be a linked table.
If so, right click on the table and select convert to local table...

Re: Ask for Password whe Yes/No Box is used

You have been given advice on handling images by two people in your other similar thread. No point adding further solutions here.

Re: Hide / View Controls

The tag property is very useful for setting a group of controls visible or hidden with just one line of code such as
ShowControls True, "A"

See this example database for the function code...

There have been several posts on this topic recently, both here and on other forums.

I'm not the Essex troll if you were wondering.
My version also allows you to paste the SQL into a query.

Where I do disagree with you is mainly using unbound forms.
As...

Re: strSQL in DLookup

Nobody is suggesting that VBA code should be avoided where it is needed.
There are many occasions where a query can't do the job.
However if a query can do so, it should be faster/more efficient...
