Re: Creating or Updating a Table from a Query

When the Contract Accepted button is clicked use an unmatched append query. This will append a new record but only if it doesn't already exist.
In other words if a primary key field is null.

If...

Re: Trying to implement the SetAccessWindow code

I've no idea why its playing up for you.
Much as I like the result of hiding the application window, that seems unimportant compared to getting the network speed issue resolved.
However as already...

Re: Data encoded as RTF - need to strip

By chance I just came across a GetBetween function that will strip out text between two specified strings.
See https://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=1571814&postcount=10

Re: Export Data from Access table to Json file

Some questions.

Is this code you have written yourself or obtained via the API?
If the latter do you understand what each part of the code is meant to do?
Does it compile without errors?
A...

Re: Trying to implement the SetAccessWindow code

Access is intended for use on a local area network (LAN). It is not intended for use on a wide area network (WAN), will never perform well and increases the risk of corruption.

I'm not a network...

Re: Trying to implement the SetAccessWindow code

When I looked at the cut downversion you uploaded the app responded quickly including the various tabs on frmHome.

My workstation is certainly not a powerful PC. 7 years old and only 4GB RAM.

Re: VBA SUB not found when calling from a marco

Actually if you use intellisense, it will only add the (
You need to add the ) yourself.
I assume the reason is that you may need to specify a function argument before adding the )

Re: MS Access to DB2 using DSN-Less Connection

I don't use DB2 but do you need to include PORT & PROTOCOL in your connection strings? Have you tried omitting these?

These aren't included in most of the examples in the link provided by ByteMizer

Re: Updating the row source of a combo box

Each table in your database should store one type of data e.g. Customers, Products, Countries.

If you use a value list and it's never going to change that's fine.
However it won't be dynamic. So...

Re: Updating the row source of a combo box

Don't use a value list for your combo as that will not update unless you do so manually
Use table/query as your option and select the required table & fields as the row source

Re: Data encoded as RTF - need to strip

Well post 21 is certainly simpler than post 20.
However, just out of interest, can you tell me why you think your solutions in posts 20/21 are simpler than mine in post 17 or 3 ... or that of...

Re: Conditional Formatting the Field based on the Value of Another Field

I also have code for highlighting the current record though in my case I use a...

Re: Conditional Formatting the Field based on the Value of Another Field

As I'm sure you were aware from the accompanying screenshots, I was referring to the fact that the formatting was done via code and not the CF wizard,
Of course I'm aware that it's the same whether...

Re: Conditional Formatting the Field based on the Value of Another Field

Hi Minty
Depends on the form/report.
For 'simple' formatting such as the form I showed, its fast enough not to be an issue. Less than a second for the form in the last reply which has approx 1500...

Re: Conditional Formatting the Field based on the Value of Another Field

Why do you say that?
I have many examples of both reports and continuous forms where format conditions are set using code. For example:

'CR 18/10/2008 - 'set formatting conditions for totals...

Re: Programming with VBA and Macro

Agreed. So why use SetWarnings at all (even during development)?
Why not just replace completely with CurrentDB.Execute with dbFailOnError

Re: Access FE and SQL Server BE, security

Whilst I agree that would be a security hole, I don't see any reason why standard users need a sql server username and password if you use DSN less connection strings.

Also, use other related...
