    Linking Excel File and Editable

I think I'll try something like you suggest here. Couldn't I simply run the delete query prior to the DoCmd.RunSavedImportExport "Import-IHS - Allowance Status by Project and Location"? I need to try that.

    Linking Excel File and Editable

The import only goes to one table and that table, after multiple imports, remains at the same number of records. So, it's probably as you said, memory pool. If in my code when I click the "Import New Data" button I check the file is there, and then delete the table with a delete query prior to...

    Linking Excel File and Editable

Sorry. I meant to write variant. Thanks for the explanation. It stinks that you need to write the sub-clause individually.

    Linking Excel File and Editable

There's some funny business going on here. I copied the back end database from the server and placed it on my desktop. It ran fine. Multiple attempts, no problem. I then deleted the one on the server and copy pasted the one from the desktop to server. Opening the one on the server now it seems...

    Linking Excel File and Editable

If I simply remove the "As String" at the end, does VBA consider them variables? Would that cause any issues? It doesn't seem to in this case.

    Linking Excel File and Editable

I should mention that the back end is on separate server and not on my PC. The speed is definitely slower on the server but, I have other databases that work fine on it. That said, it may be part of the issue. Not sure.

    Linking Excel File and Editable

Thank you guys for all you input. I've been working diligently on this problem and I'm close. Here is what I've come up with. I download the data from the other program into an Excel xlsx file. I then import that xlsx file into the back end database from within the back end database. Of course...

    Linking Excel File and Editable

I thought I had this figured out but... nope. I have a small database that is split and used by multiple users for reports only. No input into forms. The only input is from a single Excel file that is generated from another online program. I want a way to import the the new Excel file into the...

Solved Command Button on Word Doc to Save As

I think you're referring to the three messages that pop up. Those three messages ("CommandButton1 deleted"," Mail Merge Field deleted", "Save As completed") are just message boxes I put in there to verify each step as the code runs. They are not needed and can be deleted in the code. The first...

Solved Command Button on Word Doc to Save As

I'm not sure why that is happening for you. Perhaps your macros are being blocked? Here's how it works for me using Windows 10, Word 2016, stepping through each screen after pressing the CommandButton1 and finally saving the new .docx to Test PA27. No error messages except the first merge message.

Solved Command Button on Word Doc to Save As

I believe I got it! Here's the code and the attached Word Marco Enabled document that works like I wanted it to. Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() CommandButton1.Select Selection.Delete MsgBox ("CommandButton1 deleted.") ActiveDocument.MailMerge.MainDocumentType =...

Solved Command Button on Word Doc to Save As

I got to work almost like I want it. Clicking the CommandButton first deletes the command button and then goes into Save As. You enter the name of the new Word file and it shows as new .docx. The code shrunk to this. See below. The template is left unchained, and the new Word file .docx is...

Solved Command Button on Word Doc to Save As

Neither will work for me. I was thinking maybe delete the command button, run a Save As code, then recreate the command button. Is that possible? As a beginner VBA programmer, I've managed to piece this together from researching it online. I think I'm close but it does not work. Can you...

Solved Command Button on Word Doc to Save As

I'm trying to do the following: From Access create a Word document and save it as a .docx. What I have so far: From Access I have a command button to create a Word Document based off a query. Private Sub Command47_Click() DoCmd.SetWarnings False DoCmd.OpenQuery...

    Solved Run-Time error '3051'

Well, here's the solution I've come up that seems to work. It involves a command button on the form that runs Docmd.TransferText with a saved specification that changes the column from numerical to short text. It first runs a delete query to clear the table that is to be updated. Here's my...

    Solved Run-Time error '3051'

Thanks Doc, I will check this out. I've tried creating the same text file in the BE but then I'm not able to link it to the FE. I guess you either can't link and linked table or you can't link to a text file since it's really not a table. ??

    Solved Run-Time error '3051'

It is split and each users has their own FE. But I think your on to something with importing the Excel file to the BE. I'll try that and let you know. Thanks!

    Solved Run-Time error '3051'

    Solved Validating Data in Subform

This appears to work. Is this what you were thinking? Private Sub TabCtProjects_Change() 'ValidationOfControl = True when certain fields are not populated If Forms!F_Project!TabCtProjects.Value = 5 Then If ValidationOfControl(Forms!F_Project.SubmittalF.Form) = False Then...
