    Solved Speeding Up a Query

Attached is the whole database. It's a bit of mess right now but you can see the two queries I mentioned above. I'm not understanding the non-standard join you are mentioning. I openly admit, I'm not an expert as well. On the main form, the "All Projects" button opens a continuous form base on...

    Solved Speeding Up a Query

I have a query (BALANCE_Q 2) that's based on another query (BALANCE_Q1). BALANCE_Q 1 runs in a split second. BALANCE_Q 2 runs in about 8 seconds and the result is shown below. Note only 59 records. There's no doubt that it's because of my expression for Balance, RunTotal, and Counter...

Solved Reset Query Column Order to Match Design View Order

That's probably a great thought, but I have no idea how to accomplish it. I was thinking maybe there was a setting in the Properties Sheet I was missing. Something quick and easy. It seems strange that you can't easily get it back.

Solved Reset Query Column Order to Match Design View Order

In a query, if you rearrange a column(s) in Datasheet View, it appears you can no longer rearrange the columns in Design View and have the rearrangement show up in the Datasheet View. Arranging any column in the Datasheet View seems to turn off some type of link between the two. How do you...

    Improving Split DB Performance

Thanks CJ! And yes, user 1 slows down when user 2 opens the FE. I’m not familiar with indexing, so I know I haven’t done any. I will learn. I’m not sure what you consider a large dataset. One of the tables has 5800 records but it’s by far the largest. All the other tables are no more than 100...

    Improving Split DB Performance

CJ London, So the two times you mentioned would be related to this specific problem? It just seems strange for a single user to have great performance with the DB and for a second user (in the DB at the same time as the first ), to experience a substantial lag. I will start looking at...

    Improving Split DB Performance

Well, I don't fully understand what that is but isladogs sent me: (related to a different problem and different post) "To improve performance create a persistent connection with an always open but hidden form which has as its record source a small BE table. Ideally use a single field, single...

    Improving Split DB Performance

I have a split database, with the FEs on each users computer and the BE on a networked server. When one user is on, the performance is great. When two users are on, the performance decreases noticeably. What took a fraction of second before with a single user, now takes 1-2 seconds to...

Solved xxxx.ACCDBL File On & Off

Isladogs, I did as you suggested and it worked great! Totally resolved the issue. Arnelgp, I'm going to dig into the link you sent because it may improve the performance of the database as a whole. Thanks to both of you!

Solved xxxx.ACCDBL File On & Off

Can you elaborate on how to have this 'Opening the Whole Eternal database'? I tried searching for this but did find anything.

Solved xxxx.ACCDBL File On & Off

I have a split database, with the FEs on each users computer and the BE on a networked server. I've noticed that sometimes the .accdbl file for the BE will appear and disappear over and over, with a frequency of every 3 seconds or so. I would expect for it to appear when some has opened their FE...

    Solved Project Count

YES!! Thank you some much for looking at this. Here's the final database example for sequential numbering based on a group. Hope this helps someone else one day. Thanks again Vlad!

    Solved Project Count

Both the FYID and ProjectID are numbers. What do I need to do to correct? ProjectCount: DCount("*","T_Project","FYID = " & [FYID] And "ProjectID<=" & [ProjectID])

    Solved Project Count

I usually turn the navigation bar off so the users cannot add records but maybe in this case you're right.... To accomplish what I want however, I'm thinking the query Q_ProjectCount, needs to be tweaked so that the counter starts over based on a different FYID. Any ideas how to do this?

    Solved Project Count

I still need a hand with this. I created a small database to demonstrate what I'm looking for. Basically, I want a counter, to show not only the total number of projects for a specific FY but, also each project number, as shown below. I attached the small database. Can someone help me out as I...

    Solved Project Count

Ok... I just can't figure this out. Not sure what I'm missing. Attached is a copy of the database. I've tried the new aggregate query and the dlookup in the default value of the form but it's not working. Can you take a look and see where I'm going wrong? I'm puzzled because in theory it seems...

    Solved Project Count

I assume you mean so it can be "Group By". I tried and it still gives be "60" in the ProjectCount. It also gives me an error for the Contingency when I switch to a total query. What am I doing wrong here?
