    Convert old DB

IIRC, a .DBS extension could be Informix, or dBase file. Is that the only file when you unzip? The SYS$ files suggest they're system catalog files of an ANSI/SQL based db server. What do the file properties say about the author, dates, etc?

    Showcase Your Relics!

Nice Access 2.0 diskettes! That was actually the first Access version released to market in 1992.

Lol, the IBM 80 column cards. Somewhere I have the smaller 96 column cards I used for writing RPG programs on IBM System/3.

    Showcase Your Relics!

Ah, that has sentimental value to that buyer because Olivetti was/is an Italian company. In 1984 I owned an AT&T 6300 PC, which was an Olivetti OEM. I was happy with its performance. I also used a MacIntosh with a Laserwriter printer, which I still own, for printing pretty WYSIWYG documents. My...

    Showcase Your Relics!

I was looking through my box of relics that has old hardware, software, books, and unearthed this DOS 6.22 diskette I was looking for. I have another box in the attic with a Kaypro CP/M, MacIntosh SE, and a PET Commodore with a joystick I played Golf and other games. Is any of this old stuff...

    Watercooler v political forum

I have been paying close attention to Access and MS since they announced its debut at Comdex Vegas 1992. I was in the audience when Chris Capossella introduced it. I for one, have posted related criticism, however, I would think MS would revoke anyone's MVP title if they openly and frequently...

Agreed, death and destruction is avoided. If the other side decides to attack, you have the high ground, know your turf better than they do, and don't need to haul needed supplies far to defeat the enemy.

I have been keeping a close eye and recording what "You Know Who" posts on his site. He recently said he was "Signing Off" his site. However, he edited that post by including details about his criticism of Microsoft, and makes negative assumptions of why his fellow MVP's dislike him. Even if...

Well, something eventually went wrong for Ohtani and the Dodgers in game 4. The Jays made many hits and runs off his pitching. But that's because the coach let Ohtani pitch too many innings. Remember that in my post #22 Kita and I said what's quoted below, but the Dodgers didn't follow our...

Best approach to convert Access 2003 ADP project to a cloud-based solution?

Perhaps the objective is to support remote users? If so, the quickest and cost-effective solution is to migrate the app to Access365/SQL-Server on WinServer with Terminal Services, or other RDP solution. If a web portal is needed, the db server on WinServer with IIS can handle it.

The spectators are secondary. They are focused on winning via whatever means achieves that result. Their continued employment depends on it and the bonus money is a big incentive.

Ohtani is even a greater player because opposing teams fear him and the created Ohtani Rule. Sooner or later a pitcher will find his weakness.

    Table view problem

Wow, I totally forgot about the sorting. I didn't see those tiny ewok icons next to the field names. That will certainly cause the persistent highlighting if you sort and close the table. Filters will also behave the same. Good catch!

The Jays coach put aside his ego, the public desires, followed Sun Tzu's logic, and they prevented the Dodgers from scoring any runs for 10 innings until eventually someone other than Ohtani scored the solo home run. The Jays could have easily won that game if any player batted a run in (RBI)...

Ohtani will be the starting pitcher, but they will probably take him out real early so he doesn't hurt himself. Under the new "Ohtani Rules", a starting pitcher can continue batting the whole game even though he has been relieved from pitching. However, the Jays will intentionally walk him if he...

True that, however, if the roles were reversed, the Dodgers would have probably done the same because it's a "whatever it takes" strategy to win the game. The game was tied 5-5 and Ohtani really intimidated the Jays coach with his flawless batting, so they put the brakes on him. The Jays...

How to register library/reference from vba code?

Welcome back! We missed your expertise and much needed humor. A lot has been going on recently in AWF. Albert's posts from year 2015 have embedded links, so can he now be grandfathered in for posting links even though he has not reached the 100 posts threshold?

Agreed. I watched the rerun from where I fell asleep in the 12th inning. What a marathon game! Gotta hand it to the Blue Jays, they're a tough adversary. Congrats to both teams, it was very entertaining to witness this game and series.
