    Indexes

Thanks Pat, Here is more information on Non-clustered indexes... http://www.sql-server-performance.com/nonclustered_indexes.asp Non-clustered indexes are best for queries: • That return few rows (including just one row) and where the index has good selectivity (generally above 95%). • That...

    Clustered Indexes

The following information is from this site: http://www.sql-server-performance.com/clustered_indexes.asp As a rule of thumb, every table should have a clustered index. Generally, but not always, the clustered index should be on a column that monotonically increases--such as an identity column...

    Selecting Row ID in datagrid

I haven't used this but maybe either... BindingManagerBase.Current Property or CurrencyManager.Current Property will help. I take it you have tried George Shepherd's site: http://www.syncfusion.com/FAQ/WindowsForms/Default.aspx

    Indexes

Non Clustered Indexes There is not a whole lot of information on creating / using Indexes for Access. I believe Access does not have clustered indexes (A clustered index physically orders the data in a table based on a single or composite column - I don’t think ‘Autonumber’ would apply) and...

    Code Repository

I don't think this is exactly what you were talking about (this is a blank database in which you save your snippets, not an existing code repository with samples - Or a browse - explore coding example like ghydson's example - Just re-read your question and I will leave this here anyway, oops.)...

the most weird thing just happened ... please help... thanks!

I have some experience with DataSets, usually when I try a SQL string I 'preview' it with Access in a 'test' query to see if I can get the desired results and then port it over to .Net. Bind a datagrid to your dataset and see if you get your desired results.

    Where does VBA comes in

True. Especially when I find I have code bouncing around modules, forms etc. and filtering the loaded form using the ‘OnCurrent’ event. I believe it is easy to over-complicate an idea with code and blow everything out of the water. It seems there are 1000+ ways to do things, some are more...

    Working on design tutorial

I checked “Access 2002 Developers Handbook” and their point of view was that all of that extra effort to achieve Boyce/Codd, Fourth and Fifth Normal form gave you little added value over 3NF. They went on to quote C. J. Date, on the principles of database design: “nothing more than formalized...

From the book "Special Edition Using MS Access 2003" by Roger Jennings... I think that this is a GREAT idea, and a very important subject. The subject 'Normalizing a Database' is a HUGE issue, even if you develop database programs outside of Access. Will I use it? Absolutely! A lot of people like myself are self taught in Access and sometimes develop bad habits...
