    Microsoft Jet Database Error

I did just this same thing a little while ago... Just recheck your coding and see if it compiles. Other than that, maybe creating new tables, importing the data, deleting the original table and rename the newly created table (this one usually applies to databases other than Access). My most...

    MS Access needs to close!

Ok, I was bold enough to mention Kaspersky and the problem I had in the past (actually going back, it was May of 2004 I had that issue), so I thought I should "cowboy up" and recheck my system. I deleted Norton's and reinstalled the latest version of Personal Pro and so far I have not had a...

    MS Access needs to close!

The only other problem I have had in the past with Access (2003) and running antivirus is with Kaspersky (Personal Pro). Those two just didn't gell. I reported the issue with Kaspersky, didn't really have the time to do beta testing with them and switched to Norton's. To be fair, I haven't tried...

    MS Access needs to close!

Great thread! Great input! I too would have formatted by now. ;) Reading all the posts I would have put my money on a corrupt registry or OS. JrJr had a good question whether it was just a simple memory issue. Another option to rule out other apps conflicting is to boot to "Safe Mode" hitting...

    disappearing records

Interesting. With the little bit that I have tweaked with Access and tried to force it to do something illegal, I have never had it delete records, I have had it duplicate records, but not delete any (thats going on Access alone with no personal intervention doing this). The most common way...

    MS Access needs to close!

This is really going to be grasping at straws here, but... here is another option... Maybe it is because Access was shutdown abruptly or incorrectly (power failure etc.) and re-installing Access will not correct it. Try: 1) Open Access, wait until it is fully loaded (couple of minutes to be...

Should Forms always be created from Queries

My apologies if that was taken personally. I guess it was a dumb way of trying to "lighten up" a serious point of view. :o To carry on with the theme, this thread is what I have been considering "in a around about way". In the past I have been mostly creating forms out of queries or...

Should Forms always be created from Queries

Ouch... Sorry for butting in... but since this is already getting way over my head... The more I learn about Access or programming in general, the necessity that I still go by or set a goal to achieve by; are three simple steps. Here they are in order: Simplify Simplify Simplify I guess that...

Packaging Wizard - Change Root Installation Folder

I am sorry, but I think I may have miss understood this, but I can create a new custom folder in any folder using the "browse" button when chosing the destination. So I can basically install it anywhere and make a custom folder using the "New Folder" option. If your talking about splitting the...

    MDE Files

Pat, Once the MDE file is installed on a computer, lets say that the runtime was installed also, can that individual receive Microsoft updates as needed or is the developer required to keep all of the distributed MDE files (I guess the question is really regarding the runtime version) current...

    DAO vs ADO Stability

I am glad Microsoft is sorting out things. But I missed any updates to what is going to happen with DAO and Access in future builds. I take it they are staying with the Jet engine and leaving the status quo alone for now (sorry for being redundant, but to me this is important - because at one...

Packaging - uninstall- doesn't recognize msi

I used Access 2003 developer extensions to create an application with the runtime included to distribute my program and really haven't had a problem until now. To uninstall the program you need to have the installation disc which contains the msi file. OK. A friend of mine installed the program...

    Bizarre Problem!

This is going to be Apples and Oranges. Can you force it to go to Row1? Besides having a type mismatch or coding issues, maybe it is running at EOF? Using a DataGrid in .Net it was always best to force it to Row1 to work correctly. Just wondering if this was carried over? Not sure how to do it...
