But the problem with doing it this way is that, for each data line of table 1 (Contract detail), there will be a repeat copy of the sub-report, which mess up the format of the report...you know what I mean?

When I'm trying to create a report with the following format:
<Project ID>
Contract Details
---------------------------------------------------
table with Contract informations of project ID above
---------------------------------------------------
Sub-Contract Details...
yeah~this was the problem I have, too. I think going to "Insert -> Date and Time" can give you what you want...I hope it is the one you need.
