can you set it to be the date any part of the database was last modified. in other words, i have several tables that data might or might not have been new data put in so to specify just one table in 'YourTableNameHere' as above wouldn't be ideal. thanks in advance :D

but all these records have different ID Numbers and it doesn't matter what number I enter into the field, it still comes up with the messege. eg if those seven records have ID Numbers as: 100, 101, ... 106 i could enter 987654321 and it will still seems to think that it's already a number...

it comes up as 7 i'm afraid i am not authroised to upload the db.

it's a text field in the main form. it's also the primary key that links all the tables together.

i'm using dcount for the first time to make sure that an ID Number cannot be repeated. however, after it occurs once, it will stop any further valid ID Numbers being entered. i'm guessing that i have to reset Dcount, but i am unsure as to how. i'm sure it's really easy to do but i'm a bit new to...

fubar there ain't any exrtraneous code anywhere - it's just weird. anyway i used yr advice and put a SetFocus to that subform first and then next line setfocus to the field in the main form i intended. bit messy but it works ok. cheers for the help.

I've got a button at the bottom of my form that checks that certain fields are filled in correctly, and if they are, opens up a new record. However, upon a new record opening, the tabform part always sets itself to page 6 instead of 0 (i.e. first page). What the...? Cheers :D
