    Recall field value from code

You could always write a li'l VBA function called ReturnSchool or something that looks at the lonely one record and returns the value. BUT I for one am curious as to why you have a table which has no relationships yet holds information that will end up on "every record" as some other point...

When starting access, open form 'main menu' ?

Or, combine steps by creating a macro named autoexec which opens and maximizes frmMainMenu and does any other startup activities as well... --One-Stone Mac

    Display rows horizontally

This seems to be a recurring difficulty, both in forms and reports. I'm in the process now of coming up with the coding for one of these grids myself, compunded by the fact that the number and criteria of the "columns" will vary every time the report is printed... Pat, being the wisest of...

    Help Please

Are you getting records added after the various error message boxes you have coded appear? Or are the error boxes not appearing in spite of blank fields? The reason I ask is that Access distinguishes (often is seemingly bizarre ways) between a field with 0 value, a field that is "blank"...

    Append Query & Formatting

Krysti - That time was "so not wasted". Slogging through problems is the way a lot of folks on this list learned. At the moment, there seems to be a rash of folks around here who want every scrap of info fed to them without even trying to figure it out for themselves first. Kudos to you for...

    Help Please

If you've already got the checks in place to make sure that a required field isn't blank, how about a different message box that says something to the effect of "hey, ya left required fields blank--fill 'em in and try again..." --Feedback Mac

code to move combo to next/previous value on unbound form

pro'ly wrong... I'm sure I'm not understanding correctly, Happy, but let me ask if you are using SQL to open a recordset or just the displayed record? If the SQL statement is, say, part of the .Open method for your recordset, can't you then use the "move" methods (i.e., .MoveNext) on the same...

    Help Please

Dean - It's great that you're making progress, but that last line of yours makes me a little twitchy... if your DB says "record added" but doesn't, how does the user know that (1) they're doing it wrong and (2) the info they're trying to save hasn't been? --Cautious Mac

Table structure and data display on form

I'm a bit sketchy on the relationship that these controls have to one another. As I understand it, you have three controls: lstQuestion1 lstQuestion2 mmoAnswer Yes? Now, you say that the mmoAnswer control should display text "based on the selection chosen". Based on WHICH selection chosen...

    Small problem

hmmm... check Access help on the arg requirements of FindRecord. For some reason I have the nagging feeling that it wants an explicit expression or value, rather than a reference to something containing that value... something like DoCmd.FindRecord ("" &...

Starting up a form at the right place????

If it's strictly for data entry, set the form's dataentry property to yes. Otherwise, in the OnOpen event, call a macro that moves to the last record or to a new, blank record (search Access help for MoveLast or "create new record"). --Monday Mac

    Autofill possible???

deja vu Are you intentionally repeating yourself, or is this some strange glitch w/ the forum's ware? Open the properties for control #1. Select the AfterUpdate property. Tell it to run a macro. In that macro, set the value for control #2 to the result of your formula.

    Autofill possible???

If you're entering the info on a form, put a macro or VBA sub in the AfterUpdate event property of the first field's control that will make the value of the second field's control equal to your DateAdd statement. --Dating Mac

displaying the details until the last one

Having only look at your table structures, here's what I have for you so far. GENERAL: You have your primary key set as a text field on several of your tables. Why? Unless there is some REALLY compelling reason, always set your primary key to a field specifically for that purpose, typed as...

displaying the details until the last one

What are "things like finishing" that don't get printed out and don't get stored? It's very hard to help you with your VBA problem if you don't describe it. As soon as you put the product details table in... what? The design of the query? How are you putting it in? Upload the file.

displaying the details until the last one

Stuff written to different tables is not a problem. That's what Queries are good at. Read. Stuff not written to any table is... what? Paramters for the report? What info is on your form that doesn't get stored anywhere?

displaying the details until the last one

Don't pull your data from the form. Use the form to enter the data into your underlying tables, then have the report pull it from the tables.
