OK but IM not trying to set any actual values to any records, just change the filtering on the query. I still use a SET statement and if so, how do I use it to set nothing?

Works like a champ Problem was first question mark should have been a period =[Payments Query subform].[Form]![txtSubCtl]

That is the name. When I originally put the subform in, it was called 'child'?(dont remember the number) but after going through the subform wizard, it asked for a name at the end giving a default choice which I used. Payments Query subform

Some progress. If I move the option group box off of those labels, all but the three checkboxes stay normal during switching.

Sorry George, I see what you mean with those three fields going bold on afcus as mine does also but my problem is with the rest of the fields. They go bold on switching records. Did you take a look at the screenshots, the three fields you mentioned are the only ones that stay normal for me.

HI, I have a form in my db that every time I change records, some of the label characters get darker eventually to where they look blurry. Anyone see this before? Jon Henry
