    Access table opens slowly

Thanks for the response. The table was manually created in design view. It appears that I had a recordset which I wasn't closing out properly. I was resetting the recordset over and over. I guess after doing this 10,000 times, it left some behind-the-scenes overhead which slowed down the...

    Access table opens slowly

Hello, Big Jim here: I have an Access table with 135K records in it which opened very slowly. Could take 30 seconds for the hour glass to finally pop up and then open the table. When I made a new copy of the table, records and all, this delay went away. I'm running a process that executes SQL...

Software for image / point-and-click interface?

Ok cool, I can use Flash for manipulating the properties defined shapes in an image map. I will look into that. Thanks again, 50-2-1! :) Big Jim

Software for image / point-and-click interface?

Ah, so I could possibly use Flash for manipulating shape (image mapped) properties within an image? That sounds cool. I will look into it. Thanks again, 50-2-1. :) Big Jim

Software for image / point-and-click interface?

50-2-1 That is great starting info for me, thanks! It looks like an Image Map would mostly work. Can an Image Map allow for modification of the shape's properties? For example, can it be used to change the fill color of an image? Now that you gave me a name (Image Map), I can probably look it...

Software for image / point-and-click interface?

Hi, Big Jim here: Not even sure how to write this one out, so I will just explain like the simpleton I am... I have a .jpg file (guess it could be any format). This file has some odd-shapes in it. I would like to be able to click on these odd shapes and assign them properties. You know, name...

Missing Template for Integration Services Project

Just to follow up for anyone else that might have this issue, I installed Express first. I uninstalled Express in the wrong order (Microsoft requires it uninstalled in a specific way). When installing 2005 professional, it wouldn't install since express never actually was uninstalled. Very...

Missing Template for Integration Services Project

Hello, Big Jim here: I am attempting to use Visual Studios 2005 and SQL Server 2005. It appears that I am missing The Visual Studio Template for "Integration Services Project". Any idea where I can get this? I installed a full (everything checked off) version of SQL Server 2005, and this...

Turning off warnings in ADO connection to Access db

Hi bob! Thank you, that is what I wound up doing. varExportValue = Round(varExportValue, rst1.Fields(fld1.Name).NumericScale) Where: varExportValue = value going to Access rst1 = ADO recordset of my Access db .NumericScale = shows the Scale allowed in the field Thanks again! Big Jim

Turning off warnings in ADO connection to Access db

Thanks chergh, Unfortunately, it is not an Excel Error. It is an error being passed by the recordset in my ADO connection to Access. I have "Application.DisplayAlerts = False" in my code already, but it doesn't seem to help. Thanks again

Turning off warnings in ADO connection to Access db

Hi, Big Jim here: I am attempting to use vba in Excel to make a connection to Access XP. I have established the connection, but I am getting an error while attempting to add a new record to my Access table. Specifically, here is my problem... 1) Excel cell has a value of 4.1234 2) Access table...

    Understanding Existing Databases

Thanks gentleman, Unfortunately, I work with many databases which were built by people who never documented. Also, there are no relationships. Access (in this particular project) has been used as essentially a giant report generator. It takes 2 months to run all these steps to come up with a...

    Understanding Existing Databases

Hi, Big Jim Here: I was hoping you guys would have a recommendation. Do you know of a book or web site that offers workbook examples to help practice learning how to understand existing databases? My biggest problem with databases has never been designing them but learning how to follow...

How to know the properties/methods of your Active X objects

Minkey, thank you very much. However, my goal was to figure out how I could access the Active X Object and retrieve the list without having to read a proprietary list. In other words, how did people figure this stuff out before it was plastered all over the Internet? Or is the help file the way...

How to know the properties/methods of your Active X objects

Hello, Big Jim here: I would love to know a way to view the properties and methods of an Active X component. Is there a tool that tells you what all of the properties are? For example, I am using a Windows Media Player in a web page. I got it to work thanks to copy and paste. It came with...

    limit access to query

Wow, I don't think I would ever try that with Access. I would use SQL Server to maintain who had access to what. I don't know anything about DB QBF, but aren't you limited in Access as to how you can grant authorization to given fields?
