    Apply Filter macro crashing Access

I'm not familiar enough with Access macros to know much more beyond what I've done already. And the system won't create any macro code at all - the system crashes and won't save it - so I don't see any macro code either. I have a suspicion I'm asking to do something that is invalid.

    Apply Filter macro crashing Access

I have another form that I have this functionality in. In that one I do use an "AfterUpdate" event - and have in an [event procedure] And the VBA code is pretty simple Private Sub txtSearchbox_AfterUpdate() Me.Refresh End Sub And this works. But I was wondering if there were a way to do it...

    Apply Filter macro crashing Access

Oh I see - Well I just tried the "AfterUpdate" event also and it crashed. With the code builder, are you referring to VBA?

    Apply Filter macro crashing Access

Sounds interesting - where would I go after starting the "AfterUpdate" event option? Its going to want a maro, expression builder, or code builder. Thanks

    Apply Filter macro crashing Access

I'm playing with macros for the first time. I would like to create a split form based on a query, and have a text field in the top of the form - in which I could enter a search string - which would be used in the where clause of the query. I thought I could do this by using an on enter event...

Add looking glass icon to search text box?

Hi Micron - and thanks! I thought about using a button - but deferred to using the enter event in the text box so I don't have to take my hand off the keyboard to click the mouse for the button. I have the icon located near a text box control - with the attempt at making it look like its a part...

Add looking glass icon to search text box?

Hi all! I have a data search form which contains a top section having a text field which initiates a parameter query. I type text into the search box and then press enter. Enter activates a macro which initiates the query and returns the results into a sub-form in data-sheet mode below -...

Does Access 2016 have auto-format form?

Microsoft changed their office suite products - and added what they call the "backstage". The frontstage is the main interface. When a user selects the file tab now the user is in that part of the program called the backstage. That is where the options are. This is current now with all...

Does Access 2016 have auto-format form?

Thank you all! Especially theDBguy I looked in the listing he provided for modified functions - and then it clicked that this feature was not removed but the ribbon control icon was removed. I simply added it back to the form design ribbon - and now its there. I have a form I created that I...

Does Access 2016 have auto-format form?

Hi all, I have Access 2016, and picked up a book specifically on forms. Problem is this book was written for Access 2007. There is a part in the book which describes Access Forms having an auto-format mode. This mode allows someone to create the style/look of their form and then save it. And...

Trying to get MonthName to work in report

Thanks everyone for your great responses. I did end up adding the MonthName into the table. But I especially didn't know about the issue with a field in a report having the same name as a field in the table. So I'll definitely follow up on that. Many thanks!:)

Trying to get MonthName to work in report

Hi All, I have a table having a field named "MonthNum" - datatype is integer. It holds numbers from 1-12 I can use the MonthName function in a query to get the name of the month using this field. However, when I try to do the same thing in a report - where MonthNum is a field in the report - I...

Recommendation - book dedicated to forms

Thank you very much for doing all that Pat!! I have the Access 2016 Bible - great book! Somehow I didn't see the "Building Forms & Reports" on Amazon. But I think I might have been filtering for 2013/2016 books. Thanks! I'm going to get that book. :-]

Recommendation - book dedicated to forms

Hi Pat, Thanks - I didn't know about the web-aps being deprecated. I started my post asking if there were any known books by Access Developers dedicated to building forms. The GUI aspect of Access.

Recommendation - book dedicated to forms

Thanks Sonic8! I've added "In/out" to my book wish-list - since it has a bunch on web-aps and I'm sure I'll have fun playing in that sand-box. And the "About Face" book I'll get as a good book for my library. BTW: Some of the MS Access templates are laid out nicely. It would be nice if the...

Recommendation - book dedicated to forms

Hi all, I would love to have a book written by a long-term Access Sys-Dev - specifically dedicated to building professional forms. Over a period of time, I assume one settles on a specific subset of design models, which serve as tried and true for any database project. Any recommendations...
