Unable to group by a calculated time

I, like speakers, may be missing your point, but how about you group by the original time & simply not display it in your results? Granted, that won't group those with a genuine time matching a 'fake' time, but would you want that? Not entirely sure.

    Simple query(but not for me)

Can you clarify your table structure? I'd suggest the classic 'redo from start' if you have the choice...?

Best way to add criteria when there are a lot of them

Just a thought - May be a bit simple, but is it easier to exclude what you don't want instead? Would save having to add more criteria at a later date if you get new style of references being input.

How To Do This Expression In A Query in Access 2007?

In design view, simply type: monthly_salary: [annual]/12 where "annual" is the field name for the annual salary, and "monthly_salary" will be the field name for the results of the query.

    'Query is too complex' error

Thanks for response and sorry for delay in reply. Access 2007, and Win7. It would appear it's quite a common error in 2007 but nobody seems to mention it for this sort of issue. I followed your advice on reports for another output that I need for someone else (I trust them to access my DB...

    'Query is too complex' error

Honestly speaking, I went with the suggested course of action without really knowing of any better alternative. I also wanted to set up a customisable sheet, send round to the various people involved and let them get on with it with no further input from me, and them having no access to the DB...

    'Query is too complex' error

The union was used as a way to provide subtotals per product type in the results of queries shoing production stats. thread is here: http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=217577 Final coding for union query is: SELECT qryDetails.*, "" As Seq FROM qryDetails UNION ALL...

    'Query is too complex' error

I have multiple queries brought together in a Union query (kudos to TexanInParis for assistance on that one) and instead of cutting through ways to import into Excel, created a simple query on the union and link to that from Excel instead. The issue is, when I query on the Union, I get the...

    Exporting to Excel

What exactly do you mean by "removes the underlying SQL"?

    Subtotal Query Results

You're an absolute legend, thank you. Just working on best outputs now that it's all working. Cheers again.

If/Then Using Time (Over 24 hrs)

Welcome aboard - I'm all new to this as well. One (rather messy) way to do it would be to turn it into four iif statements instead of trying to bunch into just two. i.e. 7pm-12pm & 0am-7am = night, 7am-12am & 0pm-7pm = day. I'm sure someone here will come up with a cleaner method though if you...

    Subtotal Query Results

Absolutely fantastic and very impressive, thank you! After a couple of teething issues with timeouts that seems to be working brilliantly. One issue I'm having now though is that it provides subtotals by long_description, not prod_type. I played with the code a little in the vain hope this would...

    Subtotal Query Results

Sorry - failed to clarify that one. sub_grp is the numerical representation of prod_type, that's all. long_description is name of product, dept is how the results need split onto different sheets, then sub-divided by sub_grp/prod_type. Data-types of output are listed in the attached image.

    Subtotal Query Results

Data not currently sorted for output, but natural sort would be by [Manufacturing Department].[Department Name], then [Sub Group].prod_type, then [1-0 products].long_description, all ASC. Clearly, if being filtered to one dept per sheet, the first sort order here would be omitted. You're...

    Subtotal Query Results

Sounds fantastic. If you could give some clues it would be great as I'm still on a very steep learning curve atm! Original query in Access is: SELECT [1-1 history week].dated AS movement_date, [1-3 sales week].dated AS sales_date, [1-0 products].dept, [Manufacturing Department].[Department...

    Subtotal Query Results

I'm trying to create an easy Excel sheet for a few departments at work showing production of certain items in the factory, split by product dept. I have the queries written in Access and am using MS Query to bring the (filtered) results through to Excel. How I have it currently is the...

    'iferror' equivalent in access

Very good call sir - I quoted the MS site as classic but had based my attempts on other sites which missed that point. Exactly what had been confusing me so much, being relatively new to Access. Finally figured out why I was receiving the #Error's, and related to your point - one calc field...

    'iferror' equivalent in access

It was my understanding that the 'ReplaceValue' was an optional field, as per MS: office.microsoft. com /en-us/access-help/nz-function-HA001228890.aspx (sorry - no 10posts as yet & don't want to post crap to include the reference)

    'iferror' equivalent in access

Tried your suggestion but gives the same result (although better form, ta). It would appear that if QTY1 provides a value but QTY2 does not, it errors; if QTY2 provides but QTY1 does not, it's fine. Incidentally, if I copy the line from results and paste into Excel, the error fields show as...

    'iferror' equivalent in access

Thanks for the response mcalex, but this doesn't seem to work either (unless I'm messing that up as well :s ) The attempts I have made so far include these three: IIf([QUERY_A]![QTY1] Is Null,0,(IIf([QUERY_B]![QTY2] Is Null,0,( [QUERY_B]![QTY2]*[QUERY_A]![QTY1]))))...
