What would you do if you needed reference tables to be included?

Should I select all from table 1...query it... and add conditions.... Should I select all from table 2...query it... and add conditions.... Then create a third query joins them two together?

Hey Thanks for your reply. I have tried different joins and still not reporting activity from the 2nd table where there is not data in the 1st table. I wondering if there is a need to do a union on these two tables? You think that would do it?

Hi , I have two tables: I currently have an outer join getting all the data from Act table where fields match in both tables. How do i get it so if the table 2 does have data which I want to show and table 1 does not but still matches on my joins. How do i get it show in the query...

Nope still not doing it!! I have attached a screen shot of the data set, the highlighted field, if that has a null value then , i want the basic cost to go in it, other do the rest of the if statement. This has worked for me loads in the past. Cant get my head round why it not working...

I have just tried this and it coming up with an error: Cost Difference: IIf([SumOfBudget Cost]="",[BasicCost],([BasicCost]-[SumOfBudget Cost])) This way if it is another field has a a null value then i would like to place a value of Basic cost otherwise do the calcualtion... Sorry about this...

Yes I have the = sign before the iif statement. The are most definatly nulls. Its a join from 2 tables, there will be some data in one table and none in the other table. That make sense?

CORRECT The datatype is a number, this field is from a query.??

I have also tried setting the default value in a table, but because its a linked excel spreadsheet it wont allow the changes. Is vba an option?

I also need the underlying data shown in the detail. But just the summaries of the underlying data at the top of the report. Tried putting the fields in the header but no joy. Any other ideas?

Hi All, Is there a way on access reports which you can create a high level summary of all the totals of of a group E.g. If i have a group of 5 , i would like to have the the 5 different group headings with the summary data for these? Any ideas? Any help much appreciated.
