    Need Help With Report Generation

Honestly....I'm not really sure you can do that with Access, and if you can, I'm sure you would have to use an incredible amount of code. I've never seen anything like that.....

    Calculating Fields

Okay.... What about adding another field to your table called CD Total. On the AfterUpdate Event of both CD Price and CD Quantity you would put the code: Me.[CD Total] = Me.[CD Price] * Me.[CD Quantity] That way you have the total for each line and it would be available to run a sum for the...

    Calculating Fields

Unless I am totally missing something, in your unbound text field in your detail section you would put: =[CD Price]*[CD Quantity] and that should calculate for each record.

Maybe on your link you have it set to Cascade Update? That's the only think I can think of without seeing it.....

    report scaling

Hello. You can actually get font sizes smaller than what is available on the dropdown list. Just type it in and press enter. I found that arial 6 is about as small as you can get and still read it, though it's hard to read when the report is in design mode. You can read it when it's...

    Subreport null values

You can make your subreports really thin and then set the property "Can Grow" to Yes. Check out the attachment. This way if there is no information you will have a thin blank space instead of a huge one....

    Combining fields in a report

I've attached a muchly modified database. I'm unsure on what some of your fields are and what they contain as far as information. Origianally, the 4 tables you had were quite similar and contained a lot of the same type of information. You can see by my version that I pretty much combined the...

    Combining fields in a report

I think what Fornatian is saying is that we need to know what your tables look like in design mode and to see how they work together to get an idea of what you have and what you are trying to do. Can you zip you database and attach it? That would help....

    Combining fields in a report

I think I understand what you are saying. Here is what I would do instead of having 4 separate tables for each product. Table 1 = tblProductType. It would have 2 fields, Type and Description. For instance the Type could be the key field and you could have the letters A, B, C, D with a...

    report criteria

We have something similar in our databse. On the form with the criteria, you may want to try setting the default value to ="*" That's the wildcard which should include everything.... Because your query is set up a little differently than ours, I'm not 100% sure that will work without...

    Split Database

Also, I would not advise that you just go in willy-nilly making changes to the original database.... Usually what we do is have our "Working Copy" which contains all tables, queries, forms, reports, etc. Once we are done and convinced that everything still works we split the database and put it...

    validation of a field

I have attached a file to show you what the table should look like. Basically, set your field size to 13. For Validation Rule you should put: Like "?-????-????-?" Or Like "?-??-??????-?" Or Like and so on in any of the variations that you have listed below, just replacing the X's with ?'s...

    Subforms

Hello. Please look at the attachment. If you select the outside edge of the subform, the master/child options will show on the data tab. If there is a black square in the upper left hand corner of the subform, then it's not selected correctly for the master/child options.... Hope this helps...
