    VBA error handling tutorial

Hi all, I'm not up to snuff with error handling and am wondering if anyone could point me to some tutorials. I've googled and there are a lot of tuts for Excel VBA error handling and not very much for Access. I did find Allen Brown's page but am hoping for something that would go in to a...

Notes field, quotations, apostrophes, and error messages

Hi Arnel - I'm unfamiliar with QueryDef. I'm looking at what you wrote and trying to figure out the basic logic of how it works. Are you able to give me a quick overview? It looks like a very useful tool to have in my toolbox. Thanks, Tim

Notes field, quotations, apostrophes, and error messages

and, with the simpler SET Notes, it would not throw an error of any kind if I left the Notes field blank?

Notes field, quotations, apostrophes, and error messages

I am curious though: Why would the Nz or QueryDef not be required in the simpler SET Notes line of code? Or was it simply throwing the syntax error before it evaluated for Null?

Notes field, quotations, apostrophes, and error messages

That fixed it! Thanks. I need to read up on Nz and QueryDef. I'm not that familiar with either one.

Sorry. I got interrupted and wrote the wrong sentence that input in the Notes field. I corrected it above.

Notes field, quotations, apostrophes, and error messages

Hi DBGuy, I just did a test comparison. 90% of the time there is no reason to enter anything in the Notes field so nothing is entered there. This has never been an issue before. So I just ran through two inspections. The first one I wrote in the Notes field the following: I'm not sure what...

Notes field, quotations, apostrophes, and error messages

Hi All! It's been awhile. :) ....and now I'm in need of your expertise again. The Manufacturing Quality Inspection DB has been performing well (even though I'm thinking of replicating it and modifying the design ...but that's a different discussion). But yesterday, out of nowhere I began...

Errors on Report with formatted calculated fields

I just removed the brackets from around Format$ on every form and it works exactly as expected - which is great - BUT - I'm telling you that it worked for years just fine until a month or so ago and then glicthed and no one but me would have ever opened this db in design view let alone bracketed...

Errors on Report with formatted calculated fields

Yeah - it is a report closely related to issue in the other thread. After more conversation with my co-worker who has been many, many moons longer than I have and is much more familiar with what should be returned, I finally learned that wherever "=[Format$]([Recalibration Due Date]+[Frequency...

    #Name? in subform field

This DB would have been created around 2008. So I went into the VBA editor and checked references. It is referencing Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.1 Library and Microsoft Access 16.0 Object Library. Then I closed the db and opened a new DB that I developed. (All of this is happening in MS...

    #Name? in subform field

Doc - is there anything that can be done to rectify the ActiveX security issue? I very much think that is what has happened. Reinstall Shockwave? Our network manager is notoriously heavy on what he considers security. Actually - is there a way to check to see if an ActiveX control is sued in...
