Importing csv file into existing table

You can do what Mike said, and then package the entire thing as a macro, which can be used to do this once a week. Attached is a sample database I did you can take a look at. Be sure and modify the import source directory in the macro to wherever you extracted the file to.

Updating combo-box source based on another field in a form

So I am setting up a Marketing Targets form, which essentially identifies targets that need to be pursued as potential clients. I have two fields that identify the "target": Contact ID and Company ID. (yes I know, the person who started the database had never heard of naming conventions...)...

Contacts w/ related projects, difficult relationships

actually that's the way it is...my database has developed more. I now have a Specs table, a Companies table, and Contacts. Each contact is linked to a company, and each company is linked to a spec. If you look at the code I posted, the source for that query is actually another query, Contacts...

trying to export table to Outlook 2007 Calendar

So I'm coming to realize. I'm only reluctant because it will take time, but I can see that it will be worth it; that's where the true power in Access lies - or in any Office program for that matter.

Thanks, that did the trick. *sighs* looks like I might have to learn VBA after all...

trying to export table to Outlook 2007 Calendar

Actually, I followed the tut verbatim and it worked like a charm. The only modification that would be better is an option for manual override, when the script gives the alert "This appointment already added to Microsoft Outlook", to where instead it displays something like "This appointment has...

trying to export table to Outlook 2007 Calendar

by the way Paul, I noticed that the article you linked to applies to Access and Outlook 93. I've researched and I know automation is still a function available in Office 2007, but I'm no pro at VBA. I'm proficient with C++ and have dabbled in other languages, but I am unfamiliar with syntax and...

Contacts w/ related projects, difficult relationships

Actually, I managed to resolve the problem myself. I created a query called Contacts Projects, in which I show the Contacts table, with Contact ID linked to 8 instances of Project Info. Contact ID is linked to the fields Architect ID, Owner ID, Str Engineer ID, etc. in the instances Project...

Server Computer = Home PC ??

Following what Mike Gurman said, if you are capable of building a PC, it would make things more ideal. This way you can be sure to get a well-cooled case with as many fans and custom heatsinks as you like. Additionally, you can actually purchase a server case, with 8-12 hard drive bays, with...

Contacts w/ related projects, difficult relationships

Previously, this is how I had the database set up, with tables Project Info and Contacts. I also had 8 intermediary tables named Architects, Owners, Developers, etc... with only two fields: Project ID, Contact ID. This would store the relationship for each type of specialist for each project...

Contacts w/ related projects, difficult relationships

I am programming a database for a mid-level construction company, and in the program I have a Contacts table, and a Project Info table. The key field of Contacts is Contact ID, and for Project Info it is Project ID. There is multiple one-to-many relationships between multiple instances of the...

trying to export table to Outlook 2007 Calendar

I've googled as much as I can on the topic, all to no avail. Does anyone know if there is functionality or a work-around that would allow the export of records from a "to-do list" table into Outlook calendar? The only fields I would want to export would be Item Description and Due Date. Thanks

Count total fields in a record with null values

This situation requires some explanation. I am trying to set up an importing routine for syncing contacts in an Access 2007 database with Outlook 2007, however I don't want to link the databases - I want to import from Outlook to Access. I am importing all contacts using a .CSV file, into a...
