Do you have A2003 SP3 - if so you should run the "hotfix". See Access 2003 SP3 hotfix site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945674

Automate my vba code with a module?

Try Form BeforeUpdate - this will replace all your code. If one or more ctrls are changed then the BeforeUpdate will be triggered on exiting the form. Private Sub Form_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) If Me.Dirty Then ... your two lines of code End If End Sub If you go to tbl...

    MDB Project Protection

David I use this on all my dbs (most are split) but you can still import qrys and tbls - I get around this by putting a diff pwd on the be db.

Question Compairing data across two databases

I looking at trying to see why your db is so big. If it can be honed down to a manageable size, would that negate the need to transfer it. I have a split db which uses about 130 tbls but is only about 30Mb. Some of the tbls have upto 100 plus flds and 10-20,000 records. A few pts to...

    Compact/Repair problems

I wasn't completely accurate when I described the .ldb being created - I'm surprised that no-one picked me up (except you) and explained how it worked. This is my take on it: For a single db: The .ldb file is created immediately you open the db irrespective of whether or not you've opened a...

    Query in a Form

When you say that you are using 2 tbls and 1 qry, is the qry derived from the 2 tbls being joined on a common fld?

    append query... translation required...

I never use SQL except for UNION qrys - I always use the QBE Access window. I have qrys which are cascaded upto 8 deep - imagine trying to write SQL on one of those. Have you tried using the QBE.

    Compact/Repair problems

When you C&R, it won't do it if there is an .ldb (record locking file) with the same name as the .mdb present. The .ldb is created immediately you open any tbl. It could be that 1) the .ldb has been "left" due to an incorrect shutdown, or 2) when you load the db it opens a tbl. If 1) is the...

    Create priority using date

As in Excel, dates are stored in Access as numbers ("31/12/1899" being day 0). Date()-DateRequestRaised will give you a number provided that you are storing values in DateRequestRaised with data type Date.

Question Error - Table already open exclusively

Seems strange, but you could try the "IsLoaded" fn to see whether the form is already active.

Well its been a while since I played with Queries so some noob help please.

I assume that you have a PK OwnerID, Autonumber. Are you using a cboBox for the names - if so set the RowSource as OwnerID, Person, "some other identifying feature" and the ColumnWidths as 0;x etc. When you drop down the person, you won't see the ID but you can navigate to the correct person...

    Query not recgonising form

    Perhaps this might work: [Forms]![Parent]![Child]![Form]![Child].[Form]![lst]

Well its been a while since I played with Queries so some noob help please.

From what you are saying you have a PK OwnerID in the Owners and FK OwnerID in the Ownersnotes and you have joined OwnerID in the 2 tbls - is that correct? I assume in your form you have a main form (Owners) and a subform (Ownernotes) where many Ownernotes can show per Owner.

    Working with dates

Use "dd/mmm/yyyy" - I found that "dd/mm/yyyy" still gave me US dates. If it is showing that date then may be it is returning a -1 (True) - all dates are numbers with 31/12/1899 as 0. This is the very reason why I put "dd/mm/yyyy" in the Format ppty of all my tbls and frms - is "30/12/99"...

"Not enough space on temporary disk" error

Splitting a db is standard practice when more than 1 user at a time is using it. When you split a db you create 2 dbs - a back end (be) db which contains only tbls and a front end (fe) db which contains all the other objects (eg qrys, frms, rpts etc). The fe is then linked to the tbls on the...

"Not enough space on temporary disk" error

450 Mb is a very large db. Is it split? Have you Compact and Repaired it. If it is split you'll have to C&R the be db manually. If you have A2003 SP3 have you applied the "hotfix". http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945674

    Compare two rows of data

A thought: Put in a chk box which is ticked for lunch break and LunchStart, LunchEnd times. This could be handled on your entry form. When the lunch break is ticked, have an AfterUpdate event to make the LunchStart, LunchEnd ctrls visible - ie set them as Visible = No on the ppty sheet. Then...
