    Preface Autonumber

Answer Oh, yeah...I actually solved my own problem!! For those who might read this in the future, it is simple. Create your field as type: Autonumber. In the Format box, enter: "PREFACE"0000 Where PREFACE is the string you want entered before the autonumber. It is important to...

    Preface Autonumber

I am not even sure what that means, but here is my scenario: I have several "blocks" of training required by different personnel which I have split into seperate tables. The vast majority of the blocks are finite, so I hand-jammed the PK for them. However, I have a few tables that will be...

    Preface Autonumber

I am trying to build a table that's primary key is an autonumber, but want to add "SCHL" to the beginning for ease of import/employment in other tables. Trying to get each new record's PK to be: SCHL1, SCHL2, SCHL3, ETC... I could have an autonumber field then in the next field have...

    Newbie question

I agree. I know that there is no comparison; however, I am building this DB (as does everyone) for the pruposes of reporting information. Since I already know that format of what is required as the end result, I want (actually NEED) to ensure I design the DB around the reporting requirements...

    Newbie question

I completely agree with you about the road length. No offense taken. I realize that I am in WAY over my head with this one. Good news is I have a semi-functional DB for the day-to-day and about 4 months to build, beta, and deploy the final project. It satred out small, but worked so good for...

Unfortunately, I cannot. The tables, even without the record info, contain information that I cannot release. I do thank you for your offer to help, though.

    Newbie question

Another question would be for eaese of data entry. Is there a way to have a single form with tabs input info into multiple tables?

    Newbie question

Believe me, I was shocked at the number as well. 876 and still counting. Staggering. That number is magnified exponentially when you are one of only two people who are being used for data entry/DB construction/administration. The boss gets what the boss wants, right?!? How do I set up child...

    Newbie question

I am relatively new with Access, but am trying to learn. I am developing a DB for my orginization that stared off small and has blossomed from there. Without getting too far into the weeds with specifics, I have close to 1,000 fields needed per record. With a limit of 255 fields per table, I...

    Question Multiple users, one db

I am not sure what an .accde is. I read in one of the posts that for deployment, it is far better to use an .mde than .mdb. I am using Access 2003 file system with Access 2003 to try to create an .mde from an .mdb. I am not real well versed in Access, but I am trying to learn. Any info you...

    Question Multiple users, one db

I successfully split my database, but when I attempt to create an MDE, it tells me that Access cannot create an MDE database. I have compacted and repaired to no avail. Small database, less than 30 actual objects. Any ideas as to why this might be?

    Question Multiple users, one db

I have a DB that 2 people currently use on a server. I am going to be adding several more users once the DB is done. I did this once before by splitting into FE/BE and it worked, but had issues. When I, as the adminitstrator/creator, accessed my link to the DB and made format/table/query/etc...
