    ADO Based Forms - Filters

Hi Thanks for the reply. Firstly, I have to apologise for raising this thread. I looked back and I'd raised a very similar one about ADO filters a few months back... I got so distracted with other problems recently that I completely forgot I'd gone through this already. If you are reading this...

    ADO Based Forms - Filters

Hi I'm just about to begin adding some more complex filters into an ADO RS based form (subform actually) and I have an architecture question please. In the main-form open event, I build an SQL String, apply it to an ADO RS.Open, open the subform with the RS. I then use filters in the main-form...

    Main/SubForm Correct Sequence of Opening

Please ignore the above... I've sussed it thanks..... I'd housekept my test tables recently and as a consequence there were no appropriate records for the Main form to load. I think what was happening was; when resetting the main form recordset, Access unloaded the subforms but, because...

    Main/SubForm Correct Sequence of Opening

Hi Lagbolt I've chopped out loads from the attached so it may ultimately fail with some other error... however, you can see the form opening problem. Some quick notes about form opening:- 1. All Forms are ADO based; their RecordSources are therefore left blank (or , I think, they will try to...

    Main/SubForm Correct Sequence of Opening

'Fraid so.... :) ... The sourceobject gets added OK (I put an acsaveyes in the mainform close to check it had been added ok) .. but it does not fire the subform open event.... I've put days on end into trying to get this to work properly.... I don't think our friends in Seattle really thought...

    Main/SubForm Correct Sequence of Opening

Hi Alas... no joy... I added the code as suggested but unfortunately it didn't force the subform to open... I also tried a Cancel=Vbtrue in the unload event but it still seems to drop the subform...

    Main/SubForm Correct Sequence of Opening

Hi Access 2007 .mdb file - Split FE/BE Can anyone tell me the correct (reliable) sequence for the opening of mainform/subforms?I have been plagued by problems for months. My Forms as ADODB RS based. As we know, opening a main form automatically fires the opening of the subforms first. In...

    ADO Form Recordset Filter

Hi I've figured this out.... another stroke of genius from someone, somewhere who decided that operator precedence wasn't really their thing! If you are combining ANDs and ORs in an ADO filter string they have to be done long-hand..... so... where in SQL you might put:- WHERE...

    ADO Form Recordset Filter

Hi Access 2002 BE / 2007 FE .mdb files I've a form which I populate with an ADODB RS... I add filters to the RS as in:- Dim Where_Str As String Where_Str = "xxxx yyyyy" etc With me.form.recordset .filter = adFilterNone .filter = Where_Str set me.form.recordset =...

SQL Transactions - Multi User Question

Hi Ah I see... I followed MS' manual instructions which suggested creating two new empty mdbs and copying the tables to one , other objects to the other... your way would negate the properties problem... Actually, I did use your method on my first attempt but I was just a bit concerned...

SQL Transactions - Multi User Question

Hi Actually a quick question of FE / BE Splits... I've split my Db now... all tables in one 'BE' mdb, the rest of the objects in the 'FE' mdb. However, I seem yo have lost a lot of the Access 'properties' , the appearance of forms for example.... how do I copy all those properties over...

SQL Transactions - Multi User Question

Hi Rain I think I've sussed it... Not for this Forum I know but .... I think one of my PCs resided on what is now a defunct Domain... as there are no domain controllers now I can't logon to it from another PC anymore... time to start bashing around in the Admin account! :o) thanks again....

SQL Transactions - Multi User Question

Hi Dave .... Ah that's excellent news.... thanks I can work with that.... Mostly the user interactions are the "X and Y is going to happen , Continue Y/N?" prompts so they need to be inside the commit rollbacks.... Ah one thing I should have said earlier is that my Transactions are on ADO RSs...

SQL Transactions - Multi User Question

All sound advice! ... thanks ... just got to get the mapping sorted out.... It's not relevant to this forum but I think it's since I went up to WinXP SP3 on one of my m/cs.... was working OK until then... as if there's not enough to tackle already eh? Thanks

SQL Transactions - Multi User Question

Hi Access 2007, .mdb file I've a quick (I hope) architecture question. Eventually I want to splt my DB into FE and BE and go multi-user. My Forms are based on ADO RSs and I use a fair few SQL Transactions over ADO connections. I've been trying to get my two WINXP m/cs to map drives to one...

How Do I Diagnose Expression Too Complex PLease?

Hi Thanks for the reply, always gratefully rec'd! .... Yes, I do a fair bit of string manipulation for SQL calls. Since re-starting the Db everything has run perfectly. The Replaces are only done on quite modest-sized strings but some of the resulting strings do get quite long (nowhere near...
