    Report coming up blank

I presume that your current query is the record source for your report. If that is the case, then either edit the current query or create a new one and replace it as the record source.

    Default Value Blues

Sorry, I misunderstood your request. It sounded like you wanted to change all the records based on the new value. I see that you wanted to only change the current record and subsequent updates until the value changed again. I think RG's solution was right on the money - I'm glad you got it...

    Security

Split the Database into a Frontend (fe) and a Backend (be). Then put the fe on each individual computer and have the be on the server. Use the startup options to hide the access window and view items, and disable access special keys. This should give them access to the forms only.

That's interesting - and why I like this forum. You learn something new all the time. :)

    Form Help

I would think it would be easier to already have them in the form (hidden) and then use the checkbox to set their visible = True or False properties as needed.

    Some basic help please

Funny, I didn't see anything about that in your post. All I saw was a request to download, fix, and return. The best way to get help here is to explain the problem, what you have done yourself to fix it, and then ask for assistance. If you had done that first, you wouldn't have received the...

    Some basic help please

Yes, very generous MStef. One other thing I noticed when looking at his db was that his primary key was set to [text] and not auotnumbered. I think he's going to run into very big problems down the road when he tries to index those records or uses a findfirst call for the recordset. But as...

    Production Database Performance and Design

Sometimes it's the little things that we don't think about that hurt us the most.

    List Boxes

Is it possible to upload a stripped down version of the db? From your description, it sounds like you want to use a separate form for the appointments. You could do that on a click or double click event from the main listbox then use a combobox in the pop-up form to select the mechanic and use...

    Production Database Performance and Design

One other thing to consider (as if you didn't have enough to think about already) is putting the main files on the main server path and not a sub path/folder. The deeper you put the files, the more time it will take to load them as each level will require the server's security system to...

    Report prompt for query

Good. Happy to know it worked. It's always nice to hear back when things go well.

    Report prompt for query

I have a form that asks for an input term (txtReport_Type) (from a combobox) and then I use that field in the report "OnOpen" event as the recordsource. I've tweaked it to show how that would work in your situation. Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer) On Error Resume Next Set...

    P'se Critque my Dbase

I like your answer, Doc Man. A great many of us have been helped here on the forum. I decided to give a bit back in return for that assistance. But as you said, when giving back, it requires a number of judgments on our part. Asking specific questions is a tremendous help when determining...

    List Boxes

Where does the listbox get its data from now? If you are using a form with unbound fields, then you might want to bind them to fields in a table. This will allow you to update the listbox using that form and save new entries for later use. I use this method to view and update a listbox that...

    subform in tab control

It might be me, and it might be you - but check the zip file and make sure it extracts to your computer. I get these error messages.

    subform in tab control

Make sure to compact and repair, then zip it. Even a fairly large database should be okay then.

    Report by selecting to criteria

I think the best solution here would be for you to upload a stripped down version of your db so that I and others could have a look at it. It is very difficult to determine what the solution is from your descriptions. I want to help you, but I'll need to see what the database looks like to do...

    Multiple Tables = Reduced Performance?

More than likely. The more tables you have on the be server, the longer it will take to load on the fe. One suggestion would be to move tables that are not likely to change, ie; lookup data for relatively constant comboboxes, to the fe with the forms, queries, and reports. That way, they will...
