What's the standard industry on pricing Access work?

Thanks for the reply. In my case, I've built some databases to help with day-to-day operations. So I was really looking more for your option 'e': how much would it cost for my client to sub-contract the database work out. Considering that there is no standard for pricing, I'll just estimate a...

    Help referencing controls on subforms

Any idea why Access would still use an old form name for the reference instead of the new one?

    Help referencing controls on subforms

So I figured this out. The name of my subsubform is 'frmInputEtid'. When I generate the syntax with that, I get an error that it cannot be found. however, when I generate the syntax using the event builder, it changes the name to 'subfrmInputEtid'. What's up with that? Edit: Used the event...

    Help referencing controls on subforms

I had to incorporate a .requery even for the fields CAT 1, CAT 2 CAT 3 so they'd update after I selected a new record in the search list box. So that fixed that problem. The other problem I can't figure out is in the field "CLIN Suffix" on the bottom right. It is cascaded off of 'CLIN Num'...

What's the standard industry on pricing Access work?

This is the part I was trying to avoid. I didn't know if there was a 'usual' rate or price for this kind of stuff. For the simple reason is that if someone questions what I come up with I have something better than "I made this up" to say; e.g. This is typical pricing.

What's the standard industry on pricing Access work?

In my case, I'm working for a government client so I can't go directly to them this way, so I'm stuck without knowing how much they've paid for prior DB projects.

What's the standard industry on pricing Access work?

There is no established relationship in regards to DB work. Is there a typical going rate or industry standard rate?

What's the standard industry on pricing Access work?

Except I don't even have the slightest clue on pricing DB work at all. Do you price by the hour, by the project, by the report, etc.

What's the standard industry on pricing Access work?

Technically, DB work is not in my scope of work and my contract is deliverable-based so it's actually a free product the client is getting from us. Regardless of any of that - back to the original question: how do you come up with pricing for DB work?

    Help referencing controls on subforms

Ok, I uploaded a sanitized version in 2003 and 2007 formats. On the open Navigation screen > Waste Search Form > click on the only record and the data populates the bottom half of the screen. I figured out the problem I was having with CAT 1, CAT 2 AND CAT 3 combo boxes. The field in...

    Help referencing controls on subforms

Thanks! I watched the videos but still am missing something. If I am scrolling through my search list box in Main Form, I don't get an error when I use: [forms]![MainForm].[form]![Subform1].[form]![cbocat1] but I do if I use: [Me]![Subform1].[form]![cbocat1] Why is that? I can't get any...

    Help referencing controls on subforms

For the life of me, I cannot figure this out. In the attached picture has a representation of my setup. My main form has a listbox search form (taken from this site). The search results populate data in subform1. In the detail section of main form has subform1 with 3 cascading combo boxes. I...

What's the standard industry on pricing Access work?

My supervisor works for my company. The client doesn't have a hand in this performance rating (it's illegal). I work on-site doing other work and just happen to be savvy enough to figure out Access. The client, in this case, is forced to use a separate company for any database work and...

What's the standard industry on pricing Access work?

Sorry, my post may have been misleading. I'm not doing an employee review with the client, rather with my supervisor. I wanted to include how much I'm saving the client, though, in database creation/management costs since I'm doing it in-house. I work for a consulting business that has a...

What's the standard industry on pricing Access work?

So I'm on a contract and Access work is not in my scope of work, so it's some extra I do because it makes life a little easier. As part of my employee review with my manager (not the client), I'm including the Access work that I do and would like to include an estimate of how much money...

What to do with archive data, e.g. library book check-outs

I'm sure that I probably have a small and non-complex database compared to most. Most of my tables are look-up tables with scant data in them. I try to keep everything as streamlined as possible to avoid having slow-downs. Unfortunately I have been unable to split this thing because our...

Psht. Mine is right around 10MB compacted. Is there some performance hit once you reach a certain number of tables?

Assigning a value to mulitple records

Ok, so I can't quite seem to get this to work completely. I have the search result window in frmSearch set to open the inventory form on keypress. I set the code to open the main form and set the subform to the record I'm looking for. It pops an error that it cannot find my subform. Thoughts?

Ok, let me play with this for a bit and see if I can get it to work.
