Question Back-end still opening after joining to FE .mdw

Glad you got it working. Now you can rest assured that you have mastered ULS, which will be so useful in the future now that Microsoft has removed it :)

Question Back-end still opening after joining to FE .mdw

You have to apply the permissions to the tables within the BE because that is where the tables exist. Only links to the tables exist in the FE.

Question Back-end still opening after joining to FE .mdw

Yep, you have to set the permissions in the BE too.

Question Back-end still opening after joining to FE .mdw

I have not used that method (i.e., creating a new database and importing everything into it), so I don't really know whether that works or not. You might want to go through your database objects and check that you have removed the admin user's rights, but if I were you, I would just start over...

Question Back-end still opening after joining to FE .mdw

Sounds like the Admin user still has rights - - if your process worked on the FE and not on the BE, you may have missed a step on the BE. Just retrace your steps and you will find it.

    slow search help!

I don't have any particular thoughts on this, but if you put some timers (like debug.print timer) in there, you should be able to figure out where the slowness is occurring. Once you pinpoint the slowness, people might have more suggestions for you.

Running code on Form save cancel

Yeah, I thought so too, but I wrote what I wrote even though it didn't answer his question because it was something I have been burned by before - maybe it will help someone else.

Running code on Form save cancel

Keep in mind, undo will undo every change you made to the record. So if you have a record with 10 fields and you put values in every one of them and then undo, it will undo all 10 values, not just the last one. I am just pointing this out because undo in access does not behave like undo in...

Cannot create Excel charts from Access

You might get more help if you highlight the exact line of code that is failing, and post the exact error message you receive on that line of code.

Slow interrogation of Field.Required property in TableDef

Good luck, I am curious to see how this one turns out.

Slow interrogation of Field.Required property in TableDef

Only you know your project, but I have to say the fact that you are letting other people modify the underlying data structure makes me quite queasy. That aside, does it still take 3 seconds if you ask for the required property in the immediate window?

Slow interrogation of Field.Required property in TableDef

Sorry I misunderstood your code. If you need the required property of each field for some reason, why not store it in a table where it will be much quicker to retrieve?

Slow interrogation of Field.Required property in TableDef

What about having an empty template table and just making a copy of it? Does that run faster than creating the new table in code?

    distributing your finished database

It sounds like something only developers would use . . . can you put a link to it in your signature? That way, every time you give someone advice on a forum, you would be advertising. Then give lots and lots of advice! I am curious, can you tell us more about the app? Also, have you...
