    Inteligent combos

Thanks Jdraw. It looks like you've figured it out. Looks like I've figured it out too as I have now been able to restrict the list of trainers names based on the Project_Type selected. My only issue now is that I would like the list to show all trainers if Type and Project_Title are blank...

    Inteligent combos

Trainer_1 etc are no longer relevant and could be removed. When I did this I was trying to find a way to get all the trainers listed against a project on one line. I now know that this won't work. There are examples however where possibly ten trainers may be able to deliver a project whilst...

    Limit combo list

Hi Guys This is related to another post. Can anyone tell me what I'm getting wrong with this code? I can't fathom it as it appears to be identical to the code I've used in another combo yet it works in the other combo. SELECT [Trainers_Projects].[Trainer_Name] FROM Trainers_Projects...

    Inteligent combos

Ok So I've followed the steps in the video and created a junction table. Called Junction. On that new table I typed the detail of who delivers what. What now? I've attached the db with the new table and data in case I've done something wrong Thanks

    Inteligent combos

Thanks jdraw Perhaps because I've never used a junction query I just can't quite get my head round how it will help me achieve what I'm trying to do which is end up with a combo box showing only the trainers associated with each course. Does anyone have an example of this working in...

    Inteligent combos

Hi guys I've attached a rudimentary example db to give an example of what I'm trying to achieve. There is a form on the db called Resourcing with several combos. When I choose a Training_Type from the first combo it automatically filters the Project_Title combo to show only the...

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

Oh and what is a subselect query:confused:

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

Duly noted namliam although as vbaInet will tell you my ability to identify the wrong solution to almost any situation is now becoming legendary:D

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

That's quite a strong reaction to Dlookup. Have you had a bad experience in the past? What's wrong with them anyway?

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

With hindsight I probably shouldn't have used queries at all. I should have created some Dlookups in vba against my main table. We live and learn

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

Hi Namliam That worked. Thanks very much. Believe me the naming convention is probably the least of this db's problems but, whilst it may be messy, It mostly works. I'm on a time scale which is why I've had to take the simplest most basic route rather than do a bit of research to find a...

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

Hi Mile-O Thanks for taking anothr look. I'm going into a meeting for an hour but will get back to you straight after. Cheers Guinness

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

Hi Mile-0 I just can't make that work with the structure of my database. I don't have different entitlements for each year so the entitlement is a fixed number taken from my employee table. Trainer_Name links to my employee table as well but I get the sum of the days taken (includes half...

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

Oops I was typing my reply when your second example came in. Let me take a look as it looks like you've solved it. Two minutes:D

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

Really appreciate you doing that thanks Mile-0 but it still leaves me with the same issue. Your sample db has a team of ten people but the query only shows two of them who have booked holidays. I would like to see all ten names with the Entitlement showing their entitelement and the Days Used...

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

Yep. It's a messy work around that probably highlights my lack of skill. It's actually a query for each holiday year 2014-2020 filtered between >31/04/xxxx and <01/04/xxxx. That gives me the amount of days taken for each year. The query I pasted sums the amount of days the employee has...

Show all names in first column and insert zero where no record exists

Hi There I'm sure I've seen this on here before but can't think how to word a search for it. I'm tracking the holiday entitlement of a team of people. I use a query to work out how much unbooked holiday they have to take. My problem is where I'm scheduling next year my query returns the...

Calculating the information for a text field on a form from a query

I know far better than to doubt you. I've booked myself on a two day vba course in September and am purchasing a book entiirely on the subject. I can just about get by with queries and can adapt sql code and I don't struggle with forms but vba just has me beat. Thanks again for all your help.

Calculating the information for a text field on a form from a query

I'd love to know what you did there :D The parameters part at the top seems unnecessary as those reflect the parameters set on the source table. I also notice that you set the query to sort descending. Is that what made the difference? Anyway thank you very much for that. Your help and...

Calculating the information for a text field on a form from a query

Thanks for getting back to me vbaInet. Use Kevin McBride as an example. So Trainer_Name kevin McBride and Start_Date 20/08/2014 should show a last holiday date of 15/08/2014. Instead it shows the first holiday record 01/01/2014. Does this help?
