    MS Access needs to close!

Are you still unable to open ANY db's or create new ones after your last attempts or is it just the one db that gives you trouble now? I didn't see where you did Windows updates... try that, sometimes it helps. Shadow had a good idea.... try that too You said that you already did a reinstall...

    Creating help files

You could create a form in your db and type in all of the information that you want to present. Then call this form in the onclick event of a command button. In my circumstance, I have a FE BE situation using a server. I made my help section in the form of a web page located on the server...

    MS Access needs to close!

Run whatever antivirus you use first. Do a complete scan. Have you visited Windows update lately and updated your Windows install? If not, do that next. If you are using XP then you could try system restore back to a date just before this started to happen. I think it is to do with your OS...

In design mode of your form, at the top left is a square with a black square in it. Right click that and choose properties. Up will come the property sheet for your form that has several tabs. One of these is called "Other" Sorry I didnt get back to you sooner but I have not been in here for a...

    Subform Problem

I can't comment on the major issue here but on a minor note, this may be of some use to you in form navigation. Can't say where it came from to give credit as I don't remember! See the attachment....

    Simple Form Validation

Perhaps you could remove the Access controls and install your own command buttons with the code in the onclick event of the buttons used for navigation.

Record modification dates & who did it

Just an added note FYI, I never did resolve my issues with Environ("UserName"). I believe it had to do with a malfunction in the install of Access itself. ghudson is correct in that it does pick up the network log on name when it works. In any event, check this thread for an alternative to using...

    System.MDW file

Please note my statement about my users having Access installed on their machines. It sounds like that may be an obstacle for you.... As of now, I have around 20-30 users on a database. Each building we have will have its own DB or at least most will. It will depend on the individual...

Having trouble editing data in form

My pleasure :) It seemed that when you tried to enter something into a field, the form was refreshing and the cursor was returned to the beginning of the tab order again. On dirty means roughly.... has data or has something entered into it.

    System.MDW file

I am doing this now. All of our users though have a licensed copy of Access installed on their machine. It is the install on the users PC that runs the DB. This has been running smoothly for a year and a half now. One of the advantages, and the reason I decided on this solution in the first...

Conditional formatting custom colour / color

For the life of me I can't see how you did this. The form properties say that it has a module but yet there are no modules listed. In the properties of all the different items, I see no code that changes color. I do see where a dependency is listed for fc but no color value is listed in vb...

Allow Users to Access Backend Data

Wow, you have a ways to go! Start with a new database and go to file/get external data. Link the tables in your existing database to your new database. Make a copy of your existing database first and work with that so nothing bad happens to your data. You can always make another copy and start...

    Email failure

I use this code in the onclick event of a command button with no issues in either 2000 or 2003: Dim email As String Dim notes As String 'create variables for Outlook Dim objOutlook As Outlook.Application Dim objEmail As Outlook.MailItem 'Verify the various fields have entries If...

    =Environ("username")

I knew that there were other ways to achieve this and get the network login name, I was just wondering why this way would not work. I caved and used the solution provided on this page and it seems to have eliminated the trouble: http://www.microsoft-accesssolutions.co.uk/network_user.htm...
