Locking a specific field of a specific record

Set the visible value of the checkbox to no In the form onload event place this: If Environ("username") = "Admin" Then YourcheckBox.Visible = True Else YourcheckBox.Visible = False

Locking a specific field of a specific record

Here's a thought... Add a yes/no field in the table. Use a checkbox rather than a button on the form bound to the field. If the checkbox is checked then the control of your choice is locked, not enabled, not visible, or whatever you want.

I thought it was odd that it did not demand to convert on opening.

GHudson, nice job on the mousetrap :) Question though. Did you use A03 for this? Opening with 2000 gave me the need to close error. Opening with XP would not allow me to edit anything. I was able to convert to both 2000 and XP versions with my XP install though and they work ok. I was just...

Happy Monday morning! Just for confirmation, I am using A02 as well. Even with the correct info in the shortcut the DB still does the same for me as RG. I do not have the 03 runtime either.

Its acting up for me now too. First I tried to import everything into a new DB and got "Cannot complete transaction. Too many nested transactions" (or something close to that) when importing forms. I deleted the Autoexec and still not working correctly. Sounds corrupted like you said :mad...

    Can't delete a Form

You could also try creating a new blank database. Import all objects from the old one into the new one but not the old form that gives you trouble. Make a backup before trying anything though just in case!

    Multiple version install

Yes, that was the trouble! I looked at all other instances where I used this and only the one had the extra period in it. 2000 must have overlooked this error as it never gave trouble before. Nice catch - Thanks a lot!

Sorry, I should have said that I already did that. None were missing and refresh did not help.

    Multiple version install

    Installation of 97,2000,XP went smoothly. When compiling my FE that I converted to 97 I get a data member not found here: Set rs = Me.Recordset.Clone rs.FindFirst "[WOnumber] = " & Str(Me![Listbox1]) Me.Bookmark = rs.Bookmark [Forms]![FrmFilter]![FrmFilterCombo].SetFocus Is...

    sql statement in a form

I would imagine it has to do with the magnitude of the work being performed. I do not ask a lot so I see no speed differences. Crunching thousands of records may show the differences though. In any event, I plan to use queries whenever possible till I hear different. Glad things worked out for...

    sql statement in a form

I was trying to sort out SQL same as you and was advised to just use a query. Its easier and faster to use a query so I was told. There are good points and bad to running local or on the server. Placing the FE on the users machine will be the fastest for sure. I run my FE from the server...

    sql statement in a form

    You might try something like this: "From tblProducts " & _ "Where((([tblProducts].[SupplierID]=[Forms]![YourFormName]![Combo0] Or [Forms]![YourFormName]![Combo0] Is Null)=True)) And " & _ "((([tblProducts].[CategoryID]=[Forms]![YourFormName]![Combo3] Or...

How to Compact ms Access 2000 in vba code

If you would settle with compact on close, go to tools/options and I think the general tab. There should be a checkbox there for compact on close.

    Multiple version install

I know its possible to have 2 different versions of Access installed, and that you have to uninstall then start in with the earliest version. BUT can I have 3 different versions? I think it should be no problem but thought I would ask first. I am looking at 97, 2000, and 2003. Plan is to do just...

    version conflict

I checked out the trouble. I had converted the FE to 97 but not the BE. The menu opens fine on load but when a form is asked to open, it of course is requesting info from the BE and throws an error of unrecognized database. I guess this is to be expected. Today I will try converting the BE to 97...
