Using an IIF function over and over again

    Sneuberg, works great for Salutation (M. Xxxx Xxxxx). Why am I getting a syntax error with this: IIf([Status]="M" And [Gender]="M ","M. " & " " & [FirstName] & " " & [LastName] & ", Membre",IIf([Status]="M" And [Gender]="F","Mme" & " " & [FirstName] & " " & [LastName] & "...

A calculated field? Wow - how do you do that? Directly in the table?

Adding a condition to an existing Function

Shoot! It is two different tables. I guess that is a big problem? Please see JPEG for relationships. I just changed ALL of the relationships and added the tenancy table based on strong, experienced advice from one of the super moderators.

Adding a condition to an existing Function

Hi all, Someone was generous enough to provide me with this coding/module which works great! However, the database structure has changed somewhat and I need something added to the function and do not have a clue how to do this. Public Function fnUpdateMailListField() Dim db As DAO.Database...

Using an IIF function over and over again

Thank you for the tips everyone. However, creating a new field to hold M./Mme and so on stills requires the query to concatenate FirstName and LastName... so not much saved there since with the new field I have to ad it, size it, place it in the report. It would alleviate the second expression...

Using an IIF function over and over again

Hi all! I am using one of these two IIF functions in almost every report I need to create. Because I don't know any other way, I have saved them into a word file for quick access (opened on my second monitor) and keep doing copy/paste in my report queries. Is there a better way?? TenantSal...

Hi, Here is where I'm at with relationships (see JPEG). Not all tables are in yet. I am learning and taking my time to insert them as I understand the concept. Major awakening for me and super fun! Please take a look at the links and let me know if I am in the right direction. What I am...

Ok - sounds right... (what do I know, lol) - just wondering why the link to TenancyID vs TenantID? Or maybe I should think about it before asking you...

partial answer (rest to follow) Minty, the correct approach would be to test that there is no currently valid Tenancy record for a unit and therefore it is unoccupied. Though it is very easy to include a flag, that technically is a denormalization because that flag in the unit table is a field...

Yes. My thought was to insert "Vacant" in the Surname field with a StartDate, EndDate. Glad you agree. But it would not be ONE tenant. This would be inserted at anytime, in any and every unit, that is vacant. So there could be several tenants named "vacant" at one time, for a given period...

Mark, I am confused again! Where should these fields be located, in Tenant, Unit or Tenancy? InspectionDate (may be several Inspections within a year...) InspectionBy (name) InspectionReason (choices limited to Annual, FollowUp...) Unit Condition (select 1 to 5) Just unsure as for example the...

Re: Database Foundation - URGENT help needed WOW - love it! I did have a system in place for keeping all the info for the Unit - like who lived there last year, last month... I had it working with MoveInDate and MoveOutDate. Especially that many of them move to another Unit with more...

Re: Database Foundation - URGENT help needed Thank you jdraw for a clear response. for 1 Unit may contain 1 or many Tenant(s) - Yes UnitId is PK of tblUnit - Yes UnitId (long integer) should be FK to tblUnit within TblTenant not UnitNum. You join tables on keys. - this is one of my question...

Re: Database Foundation - URGENT help needed I get it - but here, for example, I need an updatable CONTINUOUS form that contains some tenant information WITH the unit's number of bedrooms which is in the Unit table. And aren't forms also based on queries? I mean, that is certainly not...

Hi all - not sure how to phrase my question and concern. This is a COOP habitation and there x number of units. One or more tenants may live in a given unit. Tenants status are "members" (M) or "occupants" (O). All members are of equal rights and obligations... Here are my two main tables -...
