    Pseudo-Random numbering

Hi, Thanks for your response. Yeah I've been down that route and upon experimentation discovered that the distribution of numbers using the rnd() function is not even as I would like. In my case the required function would be pseudo-random as with the rnd() it is theoretically possible to...

    Pseudo-Random numbering

Hi All, I am a student (studying Sound and Audio) and will soon be running some listening experiments as part of my course. In this, the listeners listen to 1 of a selection of pieces of audio (possibly 4 in total) and answer questions about it. As I now have some experience in Access it...

    Very old question...

Indeed it is frustrating that it was poached from me but that's bureaucracy for you! They were impressed with what I'd done thus far :) I know what you mean entirely. If there's one thing I've taken away from Access (given that this is the first 'programming' that I've ever done) then it's...

    Very old question...

No offence taken. I understand how you have reached the conclusion you have about my abilities but I assure that's not the case. I had began to appreciate that there was only one approach to this problem and that would have sufficed but was secretly hoping for an alternative solution. I was a...

    Very old question...

True... but the data would have been entered on a continuous subform so there are many sub-records for one main record. Generating a regular Select query containing all of the required fields would result in duplicates of the main records being displayed. This is far from an elegant solution...

    Very old question...

I have a very similar question to one that was asked a very long time ago but was never answered. I was just wondering if anyone had an answer to this or knew how to achieve it as I have no idea. I guess that if I also have no response then this is impossible! Thanks, Bobadopolis

    Update Query

Thanks for that RuralGuy, this does put me in a bit of a bind - coming up with an alternate solution could be interesting!! I will ponder away.... Bobadopolis

    Update Query

Hello everyone, This ones has me really confused, I hope I explain it ok... I have a form which is filtered by numerous combo boxes. A 'Compare' field (yes/no) allows the user to add the data to a query that is used as the RecordSource for a comparison report. On the form is a 'Select All'...

    Fundamental database structure

Point taken about the delete thing, thanks - for some reason I had it in my head that you couldn't delete records from a continuous form. However, from my end user's point of view and in terms of rigidity it is easier to break the car down into 'regions'. They are treated differently anyway...

    Fundamental database structure

Hi People, I am building a database of in-car audio systems. Stored in this are simple things like vehicle information, audio brand and other general information. The main information I need to store includes details about speakers (position, quantity, material, range, size etc.) and...

    Editing records with forms

D'OH!!!! The form was almost completely locked! However, i can edit the data only when the RecordSource is set to the original table, not the query as it was(?) meaning the results form cannot link to the selected record anymore. If I now want to link to that record in the 'edit' form how do...

    Editing records with forms

Hi everybody, I have a large problem which I can't figure out (well 2 actually but the other is less important): 1) I have a form which brings up the results of a search performed by the user (only contains some fields). From this list of results i would like the user to be able to a) see a...

    Dependent validation

Of course! It all makes perfect sense now. Plus, there is one disadvantage of triggering the validation when clicking the 'next' control - if the user presses Enter to go to the next record then this bypasses the Sub (given that the CheckedBy field is the last in the tab order). It works...

    Dependent validation

Hi Everyone, I have two fields - a 'checked' check box (that verifies if the records in the database have been checked against 'real' values) and a 'checked by' field where the checker should enter their name. I want to force the checker to enter their name if the records have been checked...

Using multiple criteria from combo boxes

Hi All, I would like a form (in Access 2000) that allows users to search the database using combo boxes that specify criteria. So, upon load the form would be populated by every record, then as the user begins to make selections using the combo boxes they can narrow the results down to only a...
