No way to change Access 2003 to 2007 file format

Bob, Here is a blank copy of our backend database. I have deleted a lot of the 'working' tables' just to keep it small. There are duplicate fields in several of the tables, but having them there has saved me a lot of work on several occasions. Thank you for taking a look. Cherry

No way to change Access 2003 to 2007 file format

My new Access 2010 will not allow me to change the file format on any of my existing databases to 2007. I was advised to go to File>Save Database As and then select the 2007 format. However, Access will only offer me the old .mdb selection. Could this be because we skipped straight from 2003...

Prevent Users from accessing backend database directly

My users are not particularly savvy about tables. I have had one employee who understood absolutley nothing but would open and tamper with everything. Needless to say, she is gone. But it does concern me that someone would start playing around with the table structures and do some damage...

Prevent Users from accessing backend database directly

I have a database for which each user has their own copy of the front end. The backend sits in a central location on our network. I have just upgraded from Access 2003 to 2010 and find that, if you are in the backend, you can modify tables on the fly. Is there a way to keep my users from...

Just got 2010 - How to upgrade tables to 2010 format?

Thanks, Bob. In that case, I may hold off and experiment with a temporary database before I do anything. I've ordered a couple of books, but they are not here yet. As usual, you are fast!! And always helpful. Cherry

Just got 2010 - How to upgrade tables to 2010 format?

I just got Access 2010. My database is currently in version 2003. I've searched the Microsoft site for how to change the table format to 2010, but I couldn't find anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks for your help. Cherry

Question Now I'm scared! Upgrade 2003 to 2010

I found this message somewhere on this forum and cannot get back to it. If 2007 won't run code from 2003, then I'm assuming that 2010 won't either. I do not understand the implications of 'trusted location' or 'explicitly enabled'. I have a couple of pretty complicated applications that were...

Question Upgrade to 2007 or 2010?

We are currently using Access 2003. I realize that it is going away and we have been planning to move to 2007 for nearly a year. Now that 2010 is out, our IT guy wants to move us straight to 2010. The upgrade is finally scheduled for early June. I am skeptical about moving to a brand new...

    Browse window going crazy

It is a subform in datasheet view only. (Sorry, I don't seem to have completely shed my old FoxPro jargon.) Right now, I am keeping up with the data and creating the screens and reports. When I am finished it will only be used by one person. I can go ahead and split it. Thanks. Cherry

    Browse window going crazy

Thanks for your reply. We're on the same version of Access, 2003. It's a small database, so the forms, reports, and data are all together in one .mdb file. We are both using thin clients, so there should be no difference in our 'computers'. It's really strange. I've been using Access for...

    Browse window going crazy

I have a small Access 2003 database which contains master records for our staff. There is a browse window in the master for which displays their hours of continuing education. This database is sitting on a network drive. I can open the database and view the master form with no problem. When...

Validate data in a control, if error remain in the control

I'm working in Access 2003. I have a field for gender in a form. The user will enter either F or M, but cannot leave the field blank. I am running a procedure on the Exit event which gives an error message if the field is blank, but I can't stop the insertion point from moving on to the next...

Changing multiple choice answers into paragraph text

I am using Access 2003. I have a lengthy questionnaire which contains mostly yes/no and multiple choice questions. On some questions a follow-up text field must be filled in based upon the answer that was provided in the multiple choice block. I have to generate a report from this data which...

Question Any reason not to start in Access 2003

We are currently using Access 2003, but will be upgrading to 2007. I just don't know when the upgrade will take place, but I suspect it will be a few months from now. I want to develop an application which will be delivered to our end users as a runtime. The application is for a fairly long...

    Requery problem

I have an Access 2003 database of client records. The data is in a backend and each of about six users have their own individual front ends. My problem is that if one user adds a new master record the other users cannot see it unless they exit the data entry form and open it again. The master...

Delete records in one table based on list in another table

For anyone who is interested, I ended up updating a blank field in my master records to "xx" if there was a match in my list of obsolete records. I then used a delete query to get rid of all of the master records that had the "xx" in that field. It was fast and easy. c
