    Splitting name from email address

I have a list of email addresses. I want to take the name before "@" and divide it into two if there's a "." or "- " or "_". And to capitalise the first letter of both names. For example, rob-roy@hootsmon.com would be Rob Roy. Hope an expert would show me how. Cheers

    Retro view of Access 2007

Thanks, Simon_MT. Sounds as though that might be the way to go ... or do we just bite the bullet and buy Jeff's book. Perhaps the philosophy, if there is one, for the change is explained in there.

    Retro view of Access 2007

I think you're right, AccessJunkie. But with 2007, things are not where you expect them. I'm trying to find - as a for-instance - in reports, the charts wizard. I spent a good half hour last night looking for it. Things like that are really frustrating. Doesn't it mean, we have to learn a...

    Retro view of Access 2007

Any way of turning the clock back with my new 2007 so I can see the old or what might be termed the 'classic layout' of Access, please?

    Hyperlinks that don't

A field in the table is hyperlinked. I put urls in, but obviously I have to do something else to tag on "http://". Alternatively, be pleased to know the code to concatenate "http://" onto the urls.

Trimming the middle out of a string

Strings contain urls. Is there a simple way to trim a url out, please? For example, " www.zzuk.co.uk/cardiff/Ely - 17k - Cached - More from this site - Save " What I would like to be left with is simply "www.zzuk.co.uk/cardiff/Ely"

Normal upper and lower case in sql

I asked in the VBA forum because - as you know - sql is an important part of VBA. Thanks very much for the direction, and the advice, Peter. Cheers

Normal upper and lower case in sql

Cheers, Peter, but not much point to the forum if people don't ask for advice. Not only will every possible question about access et al have been answered on this very forum over the years, but every answer is in lots of books too. We have forums for the interaction - when it is helpful...

Normal upper and lower case in sql

People have entered themselves in the db in lc and upper and a mixture of both. Is there a way when displaying the names, please, to say in sql that I want them to be 'normal' - ie Peter Plant, Sue Marris, etc even though they are entered as PETER plant and sue marris?

    Shoulder-crunching form

Hi Col Thanks. Yes, they are different. And one's xp and the other 2k. I had our administrator look at it then. He rules emphatically that that isn't the fault. Well, who am I to dare question that. I wondered if it might be a common problem. All the best

    Shoulder-crunching form

The form that the Users use crunches up a little near the top on their computer. On my screen, it displays as it should. It has 2 subforms. The Border Style is Sizable. Any suggestions for stopping the fault, please, Experts?

How to use Iif and EOF

Hi RuralGuy I'd like the vertical "|" to follow each chosen record from a field, except the last one. Like this - Bob | Mary | Rural Guy | Ben I'd like to do it in sql, and I thought that the immediate if function might be the answer. Sorry, I was wrong. Be pleased if you know the correct...
