Checking records on subform against text box on main form?

Thanks Jon. I apprecciate your help on this. I was actually considering another tack last night where I create a recordset, check the recordset against the Input value, if it's a duplicate then increment the quantity else add another record for the new scan. I noticed that a user id must be...

    Help with duplicate fields please!

Thanks fore the advice. I apprecciate the need for proper naming etc on the tables and fields. This is far from the finished product, it was just at this point a feasibility study, and to see if my normalising skills are adequate! Cheers, Lol :D

    Help with duplicate fields please!

Hi, doing my project at college, decided to do a EPOS simulator for my sisters business based around barcodes etc and tied to a database. i've just knocked up something after normalising my data to prototype it to see if it is viable. I'm having problems with duplicate field entries. My db...

    updating after update

Hi Kabir, had a quick look. Why not link the price filed on newadd directly to the min price box on newadd1 form footer, that's one link out of the chain. Then, why not put an expression behind newadd.price such that it auto updates the price to sell, i.e. Me![price to sell]=Me![price]*whatever...

    updating after update

Kabir, why not post the form so folks can have a look at it. I finally figured the "after update" thing on a subform myself recently. Lol :D

    adding fields together

Thats where i put mine, in the AfterUpdate part. Works great. However, I must say I'm more exzperienced with VB than Access, that's why I chose this route. Lol

    adding fields together

Okay, I'm fairly new to the forum and Access, but I had a similar problem recently. Mine involved criteria where if an order quantity was reached then discounts were applied. i found this easier to build as a calculated control on the form using VBA. I guess it depends on your knowledge of VBA...

    Combo box causing problems?

Got it sussed. Open the form in form view, place cursor in field window you wish to sort by, click sort/ascend and bingo. Your'e away. So easy I'm surprised no-one else thought of it. Cheers, Lol

    Combo box causing problems?

In the query the records are sorted into Order ID ascending. i looked at the Order By for the form and there is nothing in it so: I tried the following: [Order ID] - no change SELECT[Orders].[Order ID]; - no change I guess I could have the syntax wrong, but am I on the right track? Lol

    Query or form wizard?

That's cool, but how do you go about getting the subforms in when built in design view? This is where the wizard is driving me nuts, I know what I want to do but it's inconsistency is just being a pain. Cheers, Lol :D

    Combo box causing problems?

It makes vague sense but I don't think that is the issue. In detail, the first field is Order Number, which in it's own table is an autonumber. the next field is Customer ID, which is a field from a table related to the Customer table. In the Customer table the Custoimer ID is also an...

    Query or form wizard?

Hi, another annoying problem that I just cannot figure. I have a query based on multiple tables. Run the form wizard on the query and it creates a nice form with embedded subform. However, try and make another form from the same query, or another form from an identical separately built query...

    Combo box causing problems?

Hi, wonder if anyone has come across this one before. I have a form/subform based upon a query. The first field of the query, and the one displayed on the main form, is an autonumber. The next field down is also an aotunumber in it's own table, but here I have replaced it with a combo box such...

    Printing one record per page

Nope, that didn't do it mate. perhaps I need to change the format of my report and play from there. Don't you just love Access?! Cheers, Lol

    Printing one record per page
