    Accounts and Orders DB

Wow, ok guys, let me take all this info on board gradually. Thanks for your input Mark, Minty and Ranman :) Let's see. The Account table is an exact replica of my client's account slip (see attachment: WakesAccountSlip.jpeg), and he is happy with it. Your suggestions, however, lead me to...

    Books!

Just got my Access 2016 Bible (by Michael Alexander and Dick Kusleika) in the mail. It's HUGE! I am skipping through the first few chapters to see what I can glean from the book's intermediate-level contents... my housemate took one look at the huge tome and said, "well, I'll see ya in a...

    Hiya Fellow Access-men!

Hi Ashley, the name's Leo. I'm fairly new here too (only joined the other day) and I've found it to be a very supportive and sociable community so far. Welcome and hope you enjoy your time here!

    selling your work

Here's one I just whipped up for my client (see attachments). We've mutually agreed to divide his database requirement into two separate databases: one for Accounts and one for Orders. This is the Accounts DB, made with Access 2016. P.S. If any of you guys are in Albany, Western Australia...

Opening report based on current Order

Ta @ridders, I'll give it a try. @Uncle Gizmo suggested I look at this video: http://www.niftyaccess.com/generate-multiple-reports/ Phew! Seems awfully complicated for what I want to do, but I could certainly give it a shot. Anyone else have any other advice before I get stuck into...

    Books!

Cheers gents, I'll keep those ideas and suggestions in mind. @Mark, I'll see what I can do in the way of helping others out around here and just making myself useful in general. @Pat, I don't like videos that much, I prefer books or something "tangible" that I can read offline of my...

I have now. Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.

Opening report based on current Order

Great, thanks so much--I'll check it out. The reason the Order ID is the way it is, is because my client needs to manually enter his Order ID. It must not, according to my client's requirements, be an Auto-Number field. Thanks again everyone!

Opening report based on current Order

Hi ridders, thanks for contributing. I tried the first bit of code. Before the report comes up, the DB asks for the order ID in a message box. (See picture: Snip4.jpg) I don't know if this is good or bad... The second bit of code doesn't work for me. Struggling here. If someone could look at...

Opening report based on current Order

Ok, here's the database, stripped down to the very basics.

Opening report based on current Order

Good idea. I can bring this up: Private Sub Report_Load() [...] End Sub What should I put in there?

Opening report based on current Order

    No, still not working :(

Opening report based on current Order

The textbox is called tblOrder_OID. My code is: "tblOrder_OID = " & Me.tblOrder_OID And it still brings up ALL the orders. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Opening report based on current Order

    SELECT [tblProductOrder].[OID] AS tblProductOrder_OID, [tblProductOrder].[Quantity], [tblProduct].[Article], [tblProduct].[PID], [tblOrder].[OID] AS tblOrder_OID, [tblOrder].[CID], [tblOrder].[OrderDate] FROM tblProduct INNER JOIN (tblOrder INNER JOIN tblProductOrder ON [tblOrder].[OID]...

    Books!

By the way, why might I be concerned that Access is on its last legs? Seems like the perfect solution for my client, who needs to keep track of his accounts and orders, and to do it electronically. Personally, I like Access, hence my purchase of the books I cited above. :)

    Books!

Thanks for the recommendation and your reply. To get off-topic a bit, I am currently racking my brains over a particular problem: see my thread entitled "Opening report based on current Order" in the Reports forum of Access World Forums. I wonder if you could have a look and help out? Cheers...

Opening report based on current Order

Hmm. Seems like whatever I do, the report still comes up with ALL the orders. Maybe I should just create a new Order form and connect it to the report with the criterion as OID. N.b. I have a subform that contains the products (see Snip1 in the attachment to my first post in this thread), and...

Opening report based on current Order

(I can't upload the database due to its [zipped] filesize exceeding the limit of 2MB.) The report only has "OID" on it. Shall I create a new report that refers specifically to tblOrder_OID?
  19. Leo_Coroneos

Opening report based on current Order

The field name's actually tblOrder_OID... I changed it to this: DoCmd.OpenReport "rptOrder", acViewPreview, , "[tblOrder_OID] = " & Me.tblOrder_OID But I still get the same "missing operator" error. What kind of operator would I need in here? Is the ampersand not the correct one for what I'm...

Opening report based on current Order

Ok, thanks for your input. However, I actually gave that a try not long ago, and I get this message when I press Review: "Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'Order ID = '." I know that I am playing around with the arguments for this code, not the where clause, which--should it...
