Encrypted BE and now FE won't open

Granted - I did not "encrypt" the BE - I password protected it. Yep - disabled the shift key. I'll undo that and retry. I'm actually doing my testing on a copy version of the database (including the split) - so I have messed up a half dozen versions of the database and deleted/re-created...

Encrypted BE and now FE won't open

:banghead: I must be doing something wrong...but I've followed several different tutorials and still can't get this to work. My steps (in Access 2016): 1. Split database into BE/FE. BE is now on a network shared drive . FE is local drive. 2. Opened each one (individually) just to make sure...

    Split during developent or after?

Thanks Paul. How does the Compact and Repair work for split databases? Is it only performing action against the FE or BE or both?

    Split during developent or after?

I am creating a database and have about a dozen tables, have a dozen forms, and another half dozen queries. I realized that I will need to split this database into FE/BE, but at what point in the process should I do it? Now or after I have finished creating all of the...

Weird - font on text labels gets bolder as i move through records

Thanks Linq. I agree that the bug should have been fixed LONG ago. At least there are a couple of workarounds.

SubForm, Total and Subformal, two calculations

That works - with the caveat that the Format() function is not used and the textboxes are set to "Currency" format. Such an easy solution.... just what I was looking for. Thank you. Just for future reference for anyone stumbling on this: Textbox1: =[InHouse_Hours] * [Labor_InHouse_Wage]...

SubForm, Total and Subformal, two calculations

I have a solution for what I am seeing, but I'm looking for a better solution. I have two subtotals [note: not the actual field names]: =Format((InHouse_Hours * Labor_InHouse_Wage), "$#,###.00") =Format((InField_Hours * Labor_InField_Wage), "$#,###.00") I want to add those together and I can...

SubForm, Total and Subformal, two calculations

Glad to see this post - even though it means I can't do what I'm trying to do. At least I'm not wasting any more time. Thanks, Paul, for your suggestion. It points me to look at my subtotals and grand totals in a different way.

Weird - font on text labels gets bolder as i move through records

Linq - thanks for posting the link. Interesting slant at the same problem. The author suggest turning off ClearType which changes the pc. That seems to work for those users and I have no doubt it would work for me as well. But I found that just changing the Back Style on the label property...

    New...again...

Greetings - I have previous experience with Access 2000 - but I haven't touched it in over 10 years - so I'm back to learning again. It's nice to get back to it, just wish I could get to some of the old Access files again for reference. As for my username: I used to be the constable in a...

Weird - font on text labels gets bolder as i move through records

I realize this is an OLD thread - but seems it still applies. This happened to me today using Access 2016. I have several labels that start to get blurry as I click through the records. Changed Back Style to "Normal" and all is well.
