    Database Performance

I also have terrible slowness problems in design view since once opening my front end in A2007. The slowness is othing to do with having a FE/BE but I do think that A2007 has screwed something. The FE runs OK as an MDE file but trying to get objects into design view is painful!!

    Error 2447 problem

This is an interesting area. I had similar problem some time ago and fixed it by using double rather than integer. Many people don't initially realise that integer only allows a whole number and will fail when it tries to evaluate a fraction or decimal. Technically an integer takes less...

    Subforms are Auto-Locking

I suggest that you open each subform in design view individually (seperate from the main form) and ensure that the settings are correct. I have found that sometimes changing properties when a subform is changed from within the main form does not have any effect or the subforom does not save...

    The CEILING Function

In Excel the CEILING function allows a parameter to determine the level at which you want the result. An example is CEILING(123.4,5) would result in 125. The effect being the expression is pushed to the next integer divisible by 5. If I had put CEILING(123.4,10) then the result wouldhave been...

    Combo Boxes and Inactive Data

I have searched the forum for the answer on this but cannot find anything suitable. My step daughter runs her own beauty therapy business and I have developed her business system for her. I have forms where the user selects a treatment that a client has had from a combo box. The problem is if...

    New record line missing

This certainly sounds as if the recordset behind the sub form is not updateable. Have you tried running the query behind the form to see if that is updateable? I had something similar recently and discovered some rogue records becasue my relationships were not setup correctly allowing users to...

    Strange Error with Split Database

I would have thought it is because you now have linked tables from the BE database. Setting up an index (even if only temporary) will possible be trying to changed the definition of the table which can't be done in a linked table. Greater minds than my own may throw more light on this problem.

How to choose the 10 latests entries in a table (from a form)

The SQL in the query behind the form needs to start SELECT TOP 10....... Then you will only get the top ten records based on the sort order of the query Hope this helps.

Before I start - advice/criticism on small charity database (re)design please?

I have not read the whole thread yet but I see the first error in tblProject and tblProjectEvent. You should join these tables on ProjID and not ProjName. It is bad practice to link table on Titles/Names. ProjID in tblProject should be an Autonumber and ProjID in tblProjEvent should be a...

    League standings

Hi again Karpaty, Statsman has a good point - there are different ways of doing this. The example file that I posted is just one way. I prefer to record only the amount of detail that you need to and then use queries to produce the stats. This is on the grounds that why store data that...

    Hotel Room Availability Query

I sounds like you need a sub query in the conditions part of your main query. I don't think GaryPanic will be too happy with the tone your comments to him in your previous posting. He was after all only try to help you :-(

    Saving multiple records by date

Ah - just re-read the code. i assume that the line: DoCmd.Save acDefault saves the record with default values Dohhhh :-)

    Saving multiple records by date

Your code doesn't really appear to do anything. You go to a new record but then don't put any data into it. You then effectively save a blank record. Am I missing something here !! :-(
