Good Afternoon guys, I need to check what I am doing is OK: In one of my PC;s my hard disk is failing - long read/write times and funny noises. I have bought a replacement hard disk that is much bigger (500gb instead of 120gb). I was hoping to take an image of my HDisk and copy it to my new...

    Database Window Re-appears!!

I understand - sorry I don'tn know a more secure way. We use the hide function for our databases...it is not full proof as some people may know to look there to unhide it - however it has been safe for us. It is possible to hide forms/tables/reports etc from certain users, when you put...

    Database Window Re-appears!!

well if you do that no one will be able to see it at all (unless they unhide it specifically). Unless your users need to fiddle with the database then the hide function should be enough - it will stop anyone seeing it. I don't know why yours opens when a form does.

    Database Window Re-appears!!

I just had a look on an Office 03 PC. In that version you go to "Window" then "Hide" and it hides the current window, then to unhide you do the opposite. Is that available to you.

    Database Window Re-appears!!

hi, I use Access 2007 now so correct me if I am wrong. Have you tried just Hiding it, or is that what you are doing? I cannot remember the exact way of getting there but it is in tools I think and under "hide" you then just select Database Window...unhide to get it back.

    External Hard Drive

My advice is stick to the best brands, they will offer longer warranty and better disks...Seagate, Western Digital, Lacie are all good...I recently got a Western Digital Elements 1TB for £70 and a 1TB Lacie for £65....

    Errors and logic in database

Oh thats what I do maybe I am misunderstanding what is classed as a lookup... At uni I was taught to use value lists - not a long course so its fine... At work I use lookup tables as you posted, I may not define the field as a primary key but generally I do use it as a foreign key in the...

Just mentioned this to my boss - At the minute they are of the opinion "if it works, dont touch it".... My best suggestion was to provide all users with a folder in their Home Directory (which is backed up) containing the front end databases...were trying to avoid saving to their c:\ for...
