    How to connect data

scary to think someone like me would be designing bank deposit software! :) Yep, I'm going to proceed with the 2 tables. It seems to make the most sense to me since the information is so different. I feel much more confident now that you are in agreement. Thank you kindly for your attention!

    How to connect data

On all the other production line tables the depositor settings are different based on the item being produced; however the fields are the same (we use the same equipment). However, on this line the equipment is entirely different. My thought is that I should make 2 production line tables (and...

    How to connect data

That's the issue - there are no common fields. The settings are completely different because the machinery is different.

    How to connect data

I'm thinking that perhaps the best thing I can do at this point is just create another production line table - one that holds all the data/fields needed for Dep.1 and the other that holds the data/fields needed for Dep. 2.

    How to connect data

We have an Items table (item number is PK) that contains general information about an item (color, weight, description, etc.). There are also Production tables which allows us to enter the Item number and a depositor (both PK) so that we can enter different settings (however, in the same...

    Comparing data from multiple tables

My typo when typing the error message on my post. The field name is correct. I went into the database and copied and pasted the field name. And double checked. There must be something else I'm missing?

    Comparing data from multiple tables

Do I need to type in "field" or "table"? I am getting an error message indicating that "could not find the object '90_ftItemNumber' . . . I confirmed the spelling, etc. Your thoughts please? SELECT 90ft_ItemNumber FROM T_ProductionLine_90ft UNION SELECT 80ft_ItemNumber FROM...

    Comparing data from multiple tables

First of all, thank you for your reply. It will take me some time to follow through with this. In response as to why multiple production line tables, there are different fields in the tables. For example, Line 1 may require 30 fields/settings whereas Line 2 may only require 4, etc.

    Comparing data from multiple tables

We have an "item" table that contains information specific to an item (the item number is unique); and multiple "production line" tables. There is a relationship between the Items table and the Production Line tables (all 8 of them). Each item can be entered on 1 or more production line tables...

    Multiple, Connected Primary Keys?

Thank you for your informative response! I am now trying to wrap my head around the junction tables. I searched on line and have a basic understanding. I came up with the following. I created a new table for ProductionLine1, and a new table for ProductionLine2 (etc.). The primary key for these...

    Multiple, Connected Primary Keys?

Meaningful informational help request: I want this ... to happen, I want this to happen: I want to be able to enter an Item Number of "4060" and a Production Line of "Line1" for one record in the table; and be able to enter an Item Number of "4060" and a Production Line of "Line2" for...

I want to be able to enter an Item Number of "4060" and a Production Line of "Line1" for one record in the table; and be able to enter an Item Number of "4060" and a Production Line of "Line2" for another record in the table. Selecting "no duplicates" on the Item Number field prohibits me from...

    Multiple, Connected Primary Keys?

Is it possible to have a primary key based on two fields? I'd like to have the fields "Item Number" and "Production Line" used together because we have some item numbers that are made one production line at one time and another time may be made on a different production line. This had not...
