How to save data on a form to a table.

I have been taught recently that the Company Name should not be stored in any table except the Company table. You can use a query to pull the company name and view it but only the Company Number will be stored. Take a look at this thread...

That works great. I added a column NOTES to the ORDERS table. I added it to the query you created as well. I added it to the ORDER ENTRY FORM WITH PAYMENTS too. I am having trouble binding it to that column. What should the control source be for that box? I tried binding it to the table and...

Okay that is exactly what I needed. When I try to enter a payment in the "ORDER ENTRY FORM WITH PAYMENTS" there is an error appearing about the "ADB ORDER #". This error did not appear before.

The Query you are asking me to examine is still not working. If I click on design view it says "Access can't represent the join expression CUSTOMERS.[CUSTOMER#] = ORDERS.[CUSTOMER #] in Design View. The report is working well. Thanks for your help with that.

Thank you! The report is the main thing the boss looks at. Just so you know, this is as advanced as the database is going to get. It may have a few more queries or reports created to look at the information in different ways but this is as complex as it will get.

I do not take offense to saying that I need to understand the DB more fully. But I also know that when the boss is specifically asking for something, I have to deliver or I have failed. I admit when I need help and that is why I am here. The Query you are asking me to examine is not working...

    form with subform

I cannot keep all of the changes you made. I need the Customer name to appear in the Order Table. It is imperative. It is not stored there but my Query pulls the name for it. My boss needs to see them all together. Just the number is not helpful! He is going to look at the datasheet view of the...

We currently use dbase III and this is to replace that. We have jobs that we receive commission on. The purpose of the data base is to track the payments against the jobs to ensure we collect all of our commission. That is as concise as I can make it. Customer: contains customer # and name...

    form with subform

A copy of the database is already attached. Is there a way to revise the one field in the already created query "ORDERS W/NAMES & RATE Query" so it will show the "OUTSTANDING" calculation without making a completely different query? Also, how do I add the payments subtotal to that query? I...

    form with subform

I didn't say stored in the table, I said in the QUERY. I have stored calculated fields in queries before. I need the "OUTSTANDING" calculation to appear when the Query is ran. How should I update the "ORDERS W/NAMES & RATE Query" so it will show the "OUTSTANDING" calculation?

    form with subform

I hate to bother you again but I have a question. The information is in the form and that is great. But my query that the form is created from "ORDERS W/NAMES & RATE Query" is not saving the information in the "OUTSTANDING' column. This is how my boss will view the information. Also, I will need...

    form with subform

I have added the text box in the footer and it works perfectly. I placed the following in the control source of "OUTSTANDING" and I have error message "#Name?" appearing. = [COMMISSION] - Forms![ORDERS ENTRY FORM WITH NAMES, RATE, AND PAYMENTS].[PAYMENTS Query Subform].Form.[PAYMENT SUBTOTAL]...

    form with subform

We have a set amount of commission that is to be paid to us. That is typed in the "COMMISSION' column. "OUTSTANDING' needs to be the "COMMISSION" minus all of the "PAYMENT AMT" for that order. I think I should store it is a query and that would be okay. I guess I need to create a query that...

Hello everyone, I have a form with subform created to track payments against a particular job. I have a field on the main form that is labeled "OUTSTANDING". What I need is the payments to subtract from the outstanding amount automatically. Is there a way to do this? A copy of what the form...
