    Data selection on Form

OK. I looked at it a bit more and here is what is happening. When I select a date from the combo box, tblChild is not being updated with the tblassessment ID, if that makes sense. Is there a way to enable the user to enter the tblassessment primary key into the frmChild?

    Data selection on Form

That works very well! Sadly I don't think it will work for me as things stand now - I seem to be missing the bit that connects tblChild with tblClient. I think I need to mess about with this more before I ask another question. Thank you very much for your help!

    Data selection on Form

Hi everyone! I'm working with three tables: tblclient, tblassessment, tblchild. tblclient is linked one-to-many to tblassessment. tblassessment is linked one-to-many to tblchild. I've got three forms: frmclient, frmassessment, frmchild. What I'd like is when the client opens frmchild...

Related Record Error When Saving Form

Thanks very much for the thoughtful replies. I figured out that there was no way to place the data into the main form without making a sub-form - a scenario I don't want. I can leave much of the data in the one table (thank you for suggesting that), but there's so many fields I did have to break...

Related Record Error When Saving Form

Argh! I'm screwing up something with my table relationships but I just can't figure it out. Basically, I've got a main table with several tables linked to it via one-to-one relationships. I broke the data into several smaller tables (11, to be precise) so as to keep it manageable. The...

Open form to new record linked to prior form

Hi everyone: I've got two tables, TblClient and TblAssessment. I've linked them through clientID. I've placed an Open Form button on FrmClient. It opens FrmAssessment. It works correctly in that clicking the button opens FrmAssessment with the correct clientID. However, it opens to the last...

Linking Junction Table to Unrelated Table

I'm happy to elaborate. Thank you for your quick response. The db is to collect client assessments made up of many items, such as Housing, Education, etc. Each item is defined by a priority (Primary Concern, Not a Concern, etc) and a Status (In Crisis, Thriving, etc). For every item, the value...

    Autopopulate Number Field

    Autopopulate Number Field

I'd like to know if I can autopopulate a numeric field in a table based on the text in another field. For example, TblMain contains two fields: Status and Value. Status field is listbox of values such as Yes and No. I'd like to automatically populate Value field with a number based on the value...

Linking Junction Table to Unrelated Table

Still very much a newbie at Access, so apologies up front for the raw simplicity of this question. I've got a main table TblMain and a junction table TblJunction with a one-to-one relationship. I'm using TblMain as the form and TblJunction as a subform. Clearly, I'm missing the bit where a...

    Structuring Tables Sharing Field Values

I'm having trouble figuring out how to best structure the tables for the following scenario and I'm hoping you'll have some brilliant ideas. The db is for taking assessments. Each assessment consists of numerous items for which the user must assign a level of importance (i.e., Very important...
