I'm not going to listen to anything you said richard. You have to remember who the audience of these things are. Technicalities in terms of what a professional knows is totally irrelevant. This is just the first post and I will follow up with you later after I read all of what you have written.

MANY errors? don't bet on it. I don't claim to know everything, but the 2 errors you guys both pointed out are so marginal, no student would probably even notice. they aren't even errors really. If you compare this stuff with a typical ""educational professional"", there is no comparison...

custom identifiers in an ID field (table masks vs. code)

very useful. will remember it. all of that makes me wonder if me and my current employer implemented the solution in the wrong way. but rather, implemented it in sort of a "work-a-around" method that isn't necessarily programmatically correct, simply due to the fact that the employer wanted...

    realistic dreams

yet another one.... I took a nap this evening after my study group and I only slept for two hours but at the end of it I had a dream Whereby I was driving down the highway in my own car and I ran across the bridge that had a gap in it kind of like that scene in the movie speed in 1994 with...

I have heeded the warning Richard, but now, I AM YOUR TEACHER. and I am his as well. you two are over the hill, and nothing is going to save you, unless.... no no....actually if you want my honest opinion of whether or not Christ will allow you to enter the kingdom when you die, I believe he...

custom identifiers in an ID field (table masks vs. code)

I'm still not sure how DMAX plays into all of this? how is it related to splitting the data into 2 fields? DMAX's purpose would serve the same purpose as COUNT, which I am currently using. DCOUNT is being used now to detect an empty table.

custom identifiers in an ID field (table masks vs. code)

so record locks don't apply to new record entries? it doesn't look like it, according to this: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/vba/api/access.form.recordlocks if this is the case, I may have the change the architecture of the code. although it may not be necessary. still not sure.

custom identifiers in an ID field (table masks vs. code)

there is no DMAX function in my code Paul. why? what I mean is using a field mask. do you know what a mask is? I assume so, right? it's a feature of access tables. see here...

custom identifiers in an ID field (table masks vs. code)

can anyone tell me if what I've done in this code (on a DIRTY event behind a form) can be transformed into a field mask in an actual table? I don't see it. If Me.NewRecord Then Dim strLastNum As String Dim strYear As String Dim strNewNum As String Dim strLastIdent As String...
